Can i ask why???

I think Juddy is doing fine thanks....

Do you want to watch the replay of the last quarter last week to see what a 1st round draft pick got us???

Thats just a silly comment

dude, they kept their first round draft pick (Kruezer), & got Judd as well

If there's one thing Carlton have taught us it's never give away first round draft picks!!
That's all well and good when it's pick #1, it holds somewhat more cache than pick #17. Having said that, Harry Taylor's filling in nicely for Egan. ;)

I'd say we should offer our first rounder to the Saints for him, when usually I am against giving first rounders away. This of course should be measured against what we think we could get in the draft.

He is young, we will get 8 or so years of service out of him, he adds class to a midfield that really needs an injection of a bit more. He is a perfect fit for us, he is one of the 3 new midfielders we need to get into our team. The other 2 need to be of brock mclean/scott burns mould.

But definitely offer a first rounder for him, not sure if the Saints would accept it, highly doubt they would, especially if we make finals and it is not a top 10 pick.

Agreed

Bugger Dal Santo. Go for Hayes - what a cruncher on Freo in the first quarter! 16 touches, 4 inside 50s, 1 goal... He goes and gets his own footy, thanks very much.

I don't think Nicky Dal is close to the type of player we need at the moment - surely Collingwood's pressing need is a tough in and under midfielder?

Cousins, Dalsanto, Pendlebury, Swan, Burns, McCarthy, Wellingham, Didak, Thomas,

That sounds like an unstoppable midfield but i think a midfield is the only thing we have atm and burns is the only one leaving anytime soon.
(forgot obree)
i personally think we should focus more on finding a great KPP up forward and another down back..?¿

Imagine this for a centre line..

Who cares about the rucking.

Just throw in Cousins, Dal Santo, Pendles and Swanny/Burns.

Swanny/Burns and Cousins to get the hard ball and Pendles and Dal to be the outside players hitting Rus on the chest 10 times a game :thumbsu:

I Remember seeing an interview with MM around the time of Del Santo's last contract negotiation where MM was saying we'd be crazy not going for Del Santo (said the same about J Brown).
We would be all over it, if he came up for trade- of course depends on what we give up.

Direct swap for Fraser and a second/third rounder may be on the cards? I wouldn't like to see that happen personally but it is an option.

his tackle average per year has decreased since his secodn year, bar one little blip

02 1.8
03 4.5
04 3.3
05 3.2
06 4.2
07 3.7
08 2.9

contested possesions arnt much better
disposals Cp
02 10.6 - 4.6
03 19 - 7.2
04 18.8 - 6.7
05 22.6 - 8.9
06 22.1 - 8.1
07 21.5 - 8.1
08 22.0 - 6.6

He doesnt get the ball often enough, he barley gets his own contested ball a third of the time, he isnt what we need.

We have pendlebury and wellingham that do the outside well and can play inside as with dale thomas.

He is expensive and surplus to needs

Mate, I don't mean to be rude, but if those are his averages as an OUTSIDE midfielder, then I'd happily trade for him. If my outside midfielder is getting 4 tackles a game, and 7-8 contested possessions a game then I can only imagine what my INSIDE midfielders are doing.

An out of favour T Johnstone was moved on for pick 14 last season, so if Lyon really is after some youngsters then a pick 11 or 12 seems reasonable for a 24 year old, 130+ games experienced, elite-capable midfielder, even if we had to throw in a fringe player too.

A deal would have more value to the Magpies then one involved a Kerr who has more hype around him, which would increase his value to an unrealistic margin.

Given the transformation of Medhurst I'd be happy for the club to take a shot at him as long as we didn't get bent over to the trade table in the process. Whats he worth? Not sure exactly but I'd expect that we'd either be losing our first round pick or one of youngsters plus a 2nd or 3rd rounder depending on who that youngster is. It's really going to depend on where Lyon and the Saints see their list. If they see a rebuild on the cards then they'll consider a good offer. I guess the question is will we be a better side with him and if so how much better? as that question will determine what we're going to be willing to offer to make a play for him. Its mid season though so where we see his value and the likelihood of the Saints trading him is likely to change.

People seemed pumped on Cousins but we have no idea of where he's at in terms of footy. Is he fit? Is he mentally ready for the pressure and heavy attention he's going to get form the media? Will he see Collingwood a team that gets massive media attention as the best fit for him? There's no guarantee that he is the answer. We don't even know if he's got his substance abuse issues under control.
