Just wondering what St Kilda supporters thought are on Nick Dal Santo? Has he met you expectations since he has come back into the AFL team? I know that he had a couple of fairly good games especially with tackling, defensive pressure etc. But I noticed that he did not have 1 tackle against Port on Sunday! He usually plays well against us and kills us with his disposal!

He's definitely been better since he was dropped, was killing it against Hawthorn. Against Port he was dominated by Kane Cornes once again (Dal must hate the bloke) but his decision making was off and he ws dissappointing. I'd expect if you put a half decent tagger on him he shouldn't be any trouble, not sure who does the tagging for the pies.

TassieSaint. I agree with you, he doesn't work hard enough to shake the taggers. Brad Sewell just came back when he played us so i think he should be cut some slack. Brodie Holland is Collingwood's tagger cept he's in the two's atm, and doing well too. Wouldn't be surprised if he comes back just to piss Dal off. Other than that, i think Clarke does a bit of tagging every now and then.

Particularly given his takling in the Port game, if Bally wasn't out with his hammy, I'd almost not be surprised if Lyon dropped Dal again. Just seemed lazy at times in the game - that kick "for goal" (even he was dissappointed with it), tackles sliding off like Port players were greasy (which in one sense of course they are, but that's beside the point...). I don't necessarily think he SHOULD be dropped, of course - I'm just saying if he was dropped before for not meeting expectations, he certainly didn't seem to meet them yesterday.

All he did was get cheap kicks around the back-line really.... But who's the last player to dominate under Kane Cornes?

Jason Gram in the 4th quarter!

True - but if we're talking about the defensive side, you should also mention that one time when Gram just ran away from Cornes giving him about 50m and an almost certain goal had a Port defender seen Cornes.

Not having a go at Gram, he played another very good game (had one tackle...). Dal Santo could have had two goals in which case we would possibly hail him as our superstar again now. Not sure why he didn't run a bit further for easy goals, I guess that a Kane Cornes tag has an effect on your confidence and it feels as if he's right behind you all the time...

Do you think Lyon plays him out of position? All the St Kilda games I have seen this year he seems to get 90% of his disposals in your defensive half. I would think the best position for him would to become more attacking as he has really good foot skills and could get 8 - 10 inside 50's per game. This way, along with getting a minimum of 5 tackles per game I think he would be more damaging for the Saints.

Have to agree with you that he was being played out of position and our forward 50 entries suffered. Did he even start in the square at one ball up? A bit of a worry when I can remember Geary getting a start in there (no shot at Geary but I know who I'd prefer in there right now).

Was a disappointing effort on the whole tho as I think he was a bit of a passenger. No need to drop him tho. Don't need the distraction, plus he will work harder (hopefully) this week as I'm sure his performance is eating at him.

Isn't this part of a larger tactical emphasis we've noted in Lyon - playing really good OFFENSIVE players in DEFENSIVE positions (Beeg, Gram, Dal)?
