Who did Dale Thomas play on tonight or who were some of the players that played on him?

The reason I ask this is because he was listed as their second best player, and to be honest I thought he did sweet f-all.

I really dont understand how he is rated as one of the best players in the AFL etc. when all he does is maybe take a big mark now and then and kick a cheap goal here or there. He kicked 2 goals tonight late in the third quarter when they were 52pnts down and then one in the last when they were 58pnts down. Both of his goals were from marks when he was standing by himself uncontested too so I just wondered who he may of played on to deserve to be rated Collingwoods second best.

Hey champ, if you wondering or rather doubting Daisy, dig up a copy of last years elimination final...sit back in SA crack a can of Swan Draught and enjoy the talent on display that day. Also while your at it try and identify any true young stars Adelaide have comming through..

In a game where very few Collingwood players played to their potential, Dale Thomas was one of the few players who played reasonbly well. A lot of football supporters, including Collinwood supporters, can not see past the showy way he plays but he always puts in 100% and is a very creative player I find it interesting that you came on the Pies board to bag Thomas and yet no mention of Didak, Swan, or Pendles, Davis who all had shockers

No one has rated him as one of the best players in the AFL. He had 15 touches and took 9 marks last night ,and please forgive him for kicking 2 goals that weren't up to your standard, gee.. It's obvious Daisy really irks you deep inside, but i bet you wish you had him though.

Swan Draught is from WA apart from that i agree with you watch his game against Adelaide last year.

Fair enough. Lockyer was solid.

Thomas, Clarke, Lockyer, Cloke and Beams were the only ones who could walk off happy with themselves imo.

Thin pickings. Toovey was good -- any backman who held his own against that avalanche deserves some credit.

Although he was underdone and didn't get many opportunities, Medhurst showed a little.

Dale, Tarks, Marty, Cox, Swan were reasonable, but most were beaten fairly easily.

Lots to work on if we are going to challenge Geelong later on and lets face it Geelongs mature bodies are about 2 to 3 years ahead of ours

New to AFL? It's a great game. Stick around, enjoy the ride. You'll learn to love it!:thumbsu:

We don't know them because they don't matter. So enjoy the game with your 'Swan' Draught! I know I loved it :)

I take it you're a harlequin by trade?!

I thought Presti was pretty good too, from what I saw.

Thomas was definitely one of our better players on a night when we really didn't have many great performances.

Swan had only 16 possessions, 1 mark, 2 tackles and 4 frees against.

Not my definition of reasonable from a player of his calibre. Didn't look like he was giving 100%.

Don't understand why this thread is about Daisy, was one of the only Pies that gave it all.

Just some newbie to AFl giving his impressions. No one seems to have given it much respect. Still, we were well beaten by a far superior team on the night. With not one of our players registering 20 plus possies, it's a case of digging up the best from a disappointing night.

You are joking aren't you mate? He was close to, if the not best on ground for the Pies!

Don't worry, we along with the rest of the footballing world know of the brilliance of James Sellar.

Re: Dale Thomas?

I'll chime in and say that Thomas was definitely among the Magpies best last night. Not that he had much competition, but still, he did well. I like him in his new role, and hope he continues to do well and prove his doubters wrong.

A little bit off-topic, but most non-Collingwood supporters seem to think Dale Thomas is overrated. He's been pretty good for us from his first game onwards, has maintained his spot (without just being given charity games in the seniors for 'development') and hasn't needed years in the VFL or equivalent seconds competition to develop, which is a lot more than you can say for a lot of highly-touted young players these days :thumbsu:

Not saying he is a ghod, but honestly he is 19 years old

Correct. I don't like seeing people have a go at kids that age. Give them a chance.

As for Thomas, he was clearly our best last night. Never stopped trying, put his head over the ball every time he was near it, and had to wear a few hard hits as a result, and was very effective.

When the team is up and about, he'll stand out even more. :thumbsu:

I totally agree with you!
The only reason they say he is overrated is because they overrate him themselves. Their all a bunch of hypocrites!

And comparing him to Marc Smurfy is pointless, they play different positions!
Thomas is a more valuable player too, he gives the team a spark when it is needed. He'll kick an impossible goal and then the team start to lift.

Another bullshit BigFooty myth is he is apparently "soft". I say to those idiots watch a friggen match that Thomas plays in and you'll see that he tackles, chases and puts his body on the line all the time.

And taking specky's isn't weak either! Jumping into a players back, taking a mark and smashing back down into the turf requires a lot of courage!

If you don't agree with me then shove it up your arse!
