Hey guys,

Just curious of what you people think of Dane Swan? How will he go this season and beyond?? I think he has fond his spot in the midfield, he isn't too quick, but has quite good skills and (good hands and kick) and can find the ball and clear it around stoppages. Hopefully he'll continue to make progress and be a very solid consistent performer in out midfield for years to come!!!

He has a level head, and finds the ball. I think he deserves a spot in the midfield.

will he get 22 games or is he still on the fringe of the team. Obviously, if he keeps up his current form he'd stay in but will he be dropped if he has a few bad weeks?

I'd like to think anyone who has 3-4 bad games in a row will be dropped. For the first time in ages we actually have some depth.

Swan is quicker than most people think. In the Port game he did that 180 and convincingly beat two Port opponents. He also has a very good football brain, something his father Billy had too. Backed up with good hand and foot skills, I think he has found a "new home" in the midfield.

His good footy brain and skills amke him look quicker then he is! he is by no means a slouch either!

I was one of the few people who thought his first gamewas ordinary . I thought he was ineffective with the footy and went every direction except forward. He seemed to play in the back half that day.

I think he has been alot better since going into guts.He is very good in traffic and gets a few clearances. He seems to be going alot more direct now. I reckon his kicking is still a bit of a problem but he is very good by hand and he is definately provinding a good contest . Certainly knows how to win the footy.

All he does is kick either behind or to the side he is not a damaging running player like say Dale Thomas, he isnt a damaging player.

His kicking is in no way a problem. He just doesn't damage you enough. He is not as bad as O'Bree was in recent years. When he actually tries a long pass he quite often finds the target. He fills a role and fills it well.

He is not damaging enough because he is not a very good kick. Why else would he not be damaging enough?? I think he is pretty close to obree as far as kicking is concerned. I agree he fills a role at the moment but without a doubt kicking is his biggest weakness.

Malthouse certainly gets alot out of these lesser talented second tier players.

They just seem to produce for him.
