Re: Congratulations Lads

I didn't see Eberts game, so I can't judge that, but congratulations for picking up Dangermouse would be in order anyway :D

Re: Congratulations Lads

On bypassing Bradley Ebert. Shocking, last nights game should finally prove to even the blindest WC supporter that this guy isn't worthy of an AFL game.

Rendell copped alot of shit, but gee he knew what he was doing. Be happy you lot (and i know you are) for we are ****ing spewing we got this dud with a 1st rounder in a draft we couldnt afford to stuff up.

Look, he’s not a dud. Looking at the team as a whole, Bradley Ebert will be a good player in a good side. I don’t believe he will be a Brownlow medallist or All Australian (maybe in a few years) but he will be the sort of player a team can rely upon to get his 20 odd possessions per game and make the midfield and overall team stronger. He won’t be delisted.

His level of talent will be evaluated towards the bottom end of a first rounder, not the top but he was worth a first round pick.

Re: Congratulations Lads

Purpose anti is to reinforce what the whole BF community already knows. Ebert is horrendous and Adelaide should be rejoicing in the fact that he isn't on their list.

Come on mate, take off the your blue and yellow glasses...he has been overtaken by Paddy McGinnity, a bloke taken in the PSD

Re: Congratulations Lads

im not saying ebert is a gun by any standards but the guy is 2 games into his 3rd year.

see, i like to be logical and give younger players an actual extended period of time before i completely write them off as a dud.

there were so many poor players in our game last night, im not sure why picking on ebert seems to be the new thing to do.

there's no doubt that dangerfield is a superior player at this point in time, but that's fairly irrelevant for west coast. i doubt crows supporters really give a shit anyway.

Re: Congratulations Lads

Ok, you 2 West Coast supporters can now piss off. Take this somewhere else.

Re: Congratulations Lads

Good good good. We might get him back afterall. :thumbsu:

Re: Congratulations Lads

At the time the taking of Danger over Ebert was certainly a big call which resulted in much frustration/friction amongst the supporters. Taking a Victorian lad who was staying home for the year over the local lad. Have a look at the Dangerfield thread from when he was drafted it makes for interesting reading. But most are happy with the decision now which has given us a star of the future.

That being said I don't believe that Ebert is a dud, his game on the weekend wasn't great but he certainly has potential for the future. I believe he will turn into a very solid player for your club.

I did watch the West Coast v Port game lats night and understand why you feel the way you do on that game.

He gets it a fair bit - when he doesn't stuff it up - but his disposal!! Holey Kamoley!! He cost the West Coast victory last night by poor choice and poor disposal when it really counted. He never looked in-board on at least 3 occasions when there were Eagle players on their own that would have led to a goal. Instead he had his blinkers on, and either kicked it out of bounds or to an unwinnable contest.

The thought went throough my mind on at least a dozen occasions that thank God we got Dangerfield instead of Ebert!!

Not a total dud, but in gun terms he's more of a water pistol than a Luger!! :)

Re: Congratulations Lads

Depends what you are looking for I guess, Ebert will be a Kemp type player rather than a Mainwaring type player. He will be OK.

Before all the backslapping and arse grabbing I'd like to see Danger's signature on paper tho'. He'll still be better than Ebert any day of the week but we desperately need him to stay for good.

Big call....Dean Kemp was a gun of the highest order in arguably the best midfield of the 90s. Ebert a fair way off at this point.

better than Platten, Bradley, Robert Harvey, Paul Kelly, Pater Matera, Nathan Buckley, Mark Ricciuto, Michael Voss, James Hird, Shane Crawford.

He was good (very good), but your statement isn't true.

Who would he displace from our best 22 right now?

Quite a few actually. Douglas for a start in a heartbeat, then on today's effort Cook, Tippet, Doughty, Burton, Edwards, Vince, Porps, Hentschel..............yes, we'd never replace those guys, but silly thread really. Have watched Ebert play for many years, and he is being hugely under-rated by a few here based on a poor game or a few. He has a hell of a lot more potential than that. Yes Rendell got it very right getting Danger in, no issue there, but doesn't mean Ebert should be so misjudged by a few who have barely seen him play. Has huge heart, a ton of courage, goes at it as hard as any.
42 disposals, 13 marks, 9 tackles and a goal in a losing side for 2 weeks aint exactly bad. Most of our players listed above had 15 disposals or less today.

Was a very impressive performance today by Dangerfield.

Ebert will come good for us... still early days

Re: Congratulations Lads

The OP forgot to mention a bloke by the name of McKenzie. His disposal could be likened to a blind man playing darts.

Ebert is alright, he's a pretty solid player for a guy his age. He's not blessed with the best of skills or speed, but he earns his place on the field through effort. He would be in our best 22, I'm confident of that. He just doesn't have the potential to be a star of the game, whereas Dangerfield has. I'm happy with our selection, but had we chosen Ebert it wouldn't have been a disaster.

Ebert will be a regular for West Coast though his career, but he's a journeyman with very ordinary disposal skills. Against Port, he cost them the game in my book with that lack of skill.

Dangerfield on the other hand is very special and will become one of the game's elite players.

Rendell got it so right in taking Dangerfield instead of Ebert it's not funny - the gap is huge.

You don't select players on 1 game. Sure he got more of the ball than those guys, but he turned it over 50% of the time.

I would rather 10 touches at 90% than 20 at 50%

Yes Ebert has potential to be a good player, but not a great one.

While all those players you listed:

Edwards- A proven superstar, and does not even deserve to be mentioned in the same sentence as Brad Ebert

Tippett- Has the potential to be one of the top 5 in the AFL

Cook- Ebert is better, but Cook was a 3rd round and Ebert a 1st round pick. So yes Ebert should and will be better. I'm not sold on Cook

Porps- Has more talent in his left hand than Ebert has altogether

Vince- has the potential to be top 20 in the AFL at some stage

Look, lets not get off topic, but i think you are vastly over rating Ebert, and yes he doesn't look that bad while we are playing this badly, would he have got a game with us from round 12 onwards last year? me thinks he would not be close

This thread is about Danger and Ebert

Danger>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Ebert

I am sure most people remember that game back in 2007 when Ebert tore us to shreds and probably had the best game thus far in his short career. How unlucky were we that night? His disposal is ordinary at best, and will be a run of the mill player. Dangerfield>>>>>>>>>Daylight>>>>>>>>>>>Daylight>>>>>>>>Ebert.:thumbsu:
