I thought he was quite bold we took on that Melbourne player on the mark 50 out from goal.I can't remember anyone doing that in recent times.

If only he kicked the goal... it would have been one of the best for the day.

Quite right CG I can't remember anyone trying to do that for a while. Thing is he tried to 'run' around in an arc rather than sell the candy and sidestep. He needs to work on his lateral movement if he wants to play more midfield roles. He is excellent in a straight line but can struggle sideways at times.

He has just turned 20, yet has the mental attitude and attack on the ball of a seasoned player.

His problem is that his skills are yet to grow to that level. When he is 22-3 this should happen. He has got better with each season in this regard. So by that age I reckon he will be amongst the best in the league.

I watched that very game on the weekend. Pity 7Two ran it overtime, so I missed the last 30 seconds or so of the game (despite setting the recorder to have a post-padding of 15 min).

I actually think the opposite. Contested football is all about attitude and your mindset at the contest. Anyone can slam in and get their head over the ball if they want it bad enough. Yes it requires skill but its something that anyone can do if they are willing to. Winning uncontested ball requires football smarts, knowing when to run into space, where to run, how to read the game etc. That can be much harder than just hitting the ball with 100% intensity.

Each to their own opinion but I think you will find that a lot of coaches will think teaching someone to get an uncontested ball in space is harder than teaching them how to win it in a pack situation.

I agree, especially with the highlighted part. I love the kid's intensity and hardness at ball and man, but he needs to make faster decisions and to be faster with his hands in close.
He's young. Hopefully it will come.

Play him off the HBF for FFS. I have no doubt it will help his footy plus I want him fit for next year not spending pre-season in hostpital. Some of those attacks on the contest you just cringe dont you.

C'mon Craigy just try it once!!

Great article in the Herald Sun yesterday

The sturdy midfielder-forward has impressed with his humility, professionalism, dedication and disarming sense of humour.

More importantly, the Crows have a bloke who admits to liking the physicality of the game, hitting opponents and having an impact, and satisfying those in the outer crying out for some mongrel and intimidation.

"Captaincy, it's a nice thought and it's definitely something I'd love to do one day," Dangerfield said.

"But I've got to demonstrate those characteristics before that happens."
