Heard rumours he is a little disgruntled and may seek a trade, also a thread on the lions board saying so, and they are thinking a high first rounder for him.

Is he worth that, i think he would be a great addition to our side, he can play back, but he can replace White and Thurstand and if we have himand Tredders in the forward line, Willits wouldn't even get the second best defender.

Is it just me thats getting sick of these threads?

His age is a factor and we shouldn't look at him.

In essence we should aim to set about recruiting Tredrea's replacement.

If Warren returns to satisfactory fitness and form, we know our forward line will be good enough to win games in the next 2 years. It is what happens after that time that becomes really important and also what happens if Warren can only play as a stay-at-home full forward due to age and injury.

I'd like us to develop Willits if at all possible, and to recruit a kid with the potential to be a power CHF for the next 10 years.

No.

They would be ok if people then said what they thought we would be giving up. Trades are, obviously, always relative.

Bradshaw for Pick 5? No
for pick 20 odd? Maybe
for White? Sure.

Would Brisbane accept any of the deals we would be willing to offer? I doubt it.

no use going for bradshaw, he's only a short term prospect. and we have enough forward line depth for a few years..
willits is our next tredrea. but another decent key marking forward would be good.

White and a second rounder we get from a trade involving Thurstans?

Sounds great. For us.

Post that on the Brisbane board and see how you go...

EDIT - It would also mean we got a 2nd rounder for Toby ... I hope you're right!

Not what we need IMHO. Bradshaw's best work is done close to goal. Given the state of Tredrea's knees, his best work will be done near goals from now on. Willits looks most comfortable leading out of the square. Resting ruckman also play close to goal. What we need is a lead up forward, like a Brad Miller type. The top rated talls in this years draft all sound like athletic leading forwards which would suit this role, but maybe 1st year is too soon for them. So we either persist with White who is the most suitable player we have for that role, or we aim elsewhere.

Whilst I agree that going for Bradshaw isn't what the club needs, everyone seems to be putting him in our forward line, if we were going to get him I would have thought he would slot in as KP backman.

What i was thinking aswell.

Certainly a better option than a Leigh Brown.

At 28 next year he has 5 years of good service, that is hardly short term, and if we rebuild well it could include our next flag.

Bradshaw v Willits - 7 years older and will cost plenty in $ and picks.

Willits with plenty of upside is the best way to go.

We need a tall defender and quickly - the highest priority either dtafting or by trade.

Good point, thats another con.

I think that makes it;

Pros - 2
Cons - 10

Those rumours weren't on BigFooty were they? He isn't even here atm - he is on holidays somewhere. He, nor his manager have said anything. Bradshaw's name is mentioned every time he comes off contract and he was supposed to be going to Geelong every time.

An optimistic assessment to say the least. For example, Hardwick is a guy that came over at a similar age...we got 2 good years, and one good half-a-year in 2004.

Who is the last 33 year old we have had on our list playing first 18 football for 22 rounds? Hell, make it a 32 or 31 year old if you like. By my reckoning, even then only with the 32 qualifier, its Wangas and then daylight.

For most of today I thought that a nuclear war had destroyed the earth and that all Power posters were the only casualties.

Yep too old to be sure of getting 5 good years. Wakelin was born 8/74. He had a very good 2005, I guess that's a 30 year old in his 31st year for most of the season. His 2006 was solid also, but is on the decline.

We have a history of blokes breaking down at around 30 years of age. Bad luck or the way we play?? Hopefully Lade has shown that our luck is starting to turn.

Lade also has 2 years on others with the time he was out of the game with the broken leg and having a rod put in his leg when it broke the 2nd time............

I know that. However look at Wilbur he had 2 years off but his body is battered. I reckon Lade will last a lot longer than Wilbur.

We seem to get a lot of long term injuries to blokes around 29 or 30. Paxman, Primus (2nd and 3rd knee inj), Francou, James, Wanganeen and Kingsley. All of them bloody knees!

If we had the post-30 service from James, Francou, Primus, Kingsley and Bishop that teams like the Bulldogs have enjoyed from their oldies, we would not have dropped off so quickly after our flag.

We virtually got nothing out of Francou or Primus after the age of 28 and poor old Jamesy hardly made 30 before his knees conked out.

I fear the same fate for Wilbur, while it is also a concern seeing Peter Burgoyne and Warren spend so much of the last season out with recurring hamstring and knee problems respectively.
