Thoughts on Kerry?

I felt like we played a man down tonight in some respects. He lined up at most bounces and had no influence. Sure, he had a hard tag but his tagger seemed to get a lot of the ball too. I didn't think he chased very hard (only 2 tackles in a game like that).

Disappointed Worsfold didn't try something else with him.

needs a month of afl football under his belt i think before we will see him back to anywhere near his best. keep in mind that his hamstring injury was worse than riewoldt's and he took a few weeks to get going

Yep, deserves a bit of leeway for now. If at this point all he does is cop the number one tag, he's still of use to us.

Got jumped on by Swans players after every ball up.

And this...

Every time he touched the ball he was crunched by 2 swans players. If anything this should of been freeing up other guys. Give him time. He's spent 12 months out of the game and will take a little while to find his feet and his confidence with his hammies.

Irrelevant. If he's not fit, he shouldn't be playing. No excuses.

Rubbish.

He could at least be considered as the 21st man. For a 21st man to get a dozen touches and take the the attention and tagger off another of our players is very handy.

Put aside the fact he's Daniel Kerr and he still made a contribution tonight. Whilst he was being tackled by 2 blokes, we had someone else free.

I very much doubt Kerr is considered the 21st man though. Such a nonsense call helps your reasoning though.

Are you saying that Kerr's worth is to make the game 20 on 20 rather than 21 on 21. If so, Kerr is being misused, as the quality difference between Kerr and the tagger put on him means WC will certainly always lose out.

WC could have played a fully fit midfielder instead of giving Kerr a run despite being underdone. Kerr offered up **** on toast. He got amongst it at times, but delivered little. That's real.

East Fremantle coach Steve Malaxos stated the same principle just a few weeks ago. When asked how only having him play half a game will impact the side he replied with something along the lines of "He's basically bumping the 22nd player out of the side and his time on ground would be thereabouts - the advantage is that this is Daniel Kerr".

Kerr took the prime defensive focus of the Swans midfield. If he didn't it would have gone to a lesser player and all other players would have had a tougher match up. It's not rocket science mate.

He is fit, its just that he is not as fit as everyone else.

Youd give him a couple of games to find his feet, after the break he should be pretty up to speed. All though we have seen with guys like Cox last year that if they dont get a pre=season they never get to full fitness in the year.

Had a shocker but 2nd game back against a quality player like Jack not to be unexpected - it will take a while before he is anywhere near his best.

What East Fremantle and Steve Maloxos said about Kerr a few weeks ago is irrelevant to Kerr starting as a primary midfielder, here and now. Again you use irrelevant material for your rubbish reasoning. With Kerr being an automatic selection when fit, the Eagles will never view Kerr as the 21st player.

It would've been better if Kerr wasn't playing if he's underdone, and so the focus of a tag can't further diminish the little impact he can offer in his current underdone state. If Priddis gets the tag without Kerr being there, that's fine. Priddis doesn't hurt the opposition and he'll still rack up the disposals and clearances. Stevens, for example, could've come in and been good in a type of game he would've thrived in.

Having a tagger of lesser quality than Kerr cancel each other out is a loss for WC.

I swear he cops the hardest tag in the comp every week. It's hard to dominate when you get tackled by 2 blokes immediately after taking possession.

Now that the midfield is improving, he should be able to get free more. Give him a bit.
