Does anyone know if there is any truth regarding North Melbourne shopping Daniel Wells?

If so, what do you think they would want for him and what is his current status with injury?

Given all the fuss over Burgoyne who is a great player when in form but largely inconsistent, I would have thought Wells potential and output is not far behind if behind at all, however Wells is younger.

Wells would be an ideal replacement for Brisbane after missing out on Lovett...

Not going anywhere.

For some reason Wells name comes up on an annual basis. The offer would have to be supreme for both parties. There is mutual love between North and Daniel.

Thanks for that.

I thought this might be the case which is why I asked. I cannot remember where I heard or read it this week, most likely SEN, Age or HUN - none of which I consider highly reliable sources of accurate information.

My guess is numerous clubs enquired and North said no and it made the "rumours" section.

I know if he was available I'd love to see him at Essendon.

Wont be leaving aren st for a while. Sicking of reading about it year after year. Best player at out footy club if he were to be traded then it would have to be a super deal for us
He is a highly skilled player who rarely makes a mistake, It is a shame he just doesn't get the ball enough.

I'm sure you will be flooded with North fans saying he is untouchable and i hope he is. He does have oestitis pubis at the moment and has struggled with injury over the last couple of years.
No doubt the most talented player on our list. I'm pretty sure he would not be offered up (but who would know) and has really strong ties with the club now.

yet another rumour about Wells has surfaced via that bastion of accuracy SEN. the unnamed caller said that West Coast have offered their pick 7 for him. Looks like we are destined for another year of rumour mongering in relation to him.

Yeah, nah

You're right, it is a yearly ritual, and you can set your caledar by the thread starting on the West Coast board that someone's mate heard that he wants to come to the Eagles

Wells will not leave Melbourne. He is too settled with his wife and child and in-laws and church. Far better chance that he would end up at Essendon than West Coast, as people seem to want to discuss every year.

That is most likely because he is an annual underachiever. Has not produced anywhere near the level that his talent dictates he should, thus every year teams are going to think that they might be able to get it out of him and offer up trades that are based on his performance with the idea of utilising his potential.

Basically on what he has produced he is a mid 2nd-3rd round value, on what he has flashed might be possible he is a high 1st round value. Obviously other clubs would be arguing the first with the dream of getting the 2nd.

That said, it is pretty clear to me that North know what they have, whether they ever get the potential out of him or he continues to be that 2nd-3rd value guy is the real question for them.

You have no idea what you're talking about. Daniel's left foot is worth a 2nd rounder by itself.

To be fair to him he played about the first 5 games then missed the rest of the season. Hard to do anything from the stands.

Nice skills, poor health, poor endurance, above average speed, can't beat a tag. Has not improved in the last 3 seasons, so doesn't look to be improving any time soon. Never will be a #1 or #2 midfielder, and don't know if he will ever play a full season - just that kind of body, it seems. Value just isn't there for North to trade, and doubt the demand is really there - not like other Melbourne clubs are looking to pinch him.
