Thought he was very good today. Looked like he was still getting back into the swing of things since his injury and had lots of breaks on the bench. For the first 3 quarters whilst not getting lots of it he looked very classy. And then in the last i rekon he wud of had around the 10 disposal mark at least and a goal. I still rekon he can become a very good player for us. Thoughts?

Bring him in, see what he has.

We did that for JON so why not do it with Danny.

No point in playing a great game at VFL level, then doing nothing at AFL level.

Injuries aside i think he is an awesome player, i rate him very highly. Hopefully he comes in along with Edwards, Schulz, Connors, Rance etc etc.

Go tigers.

Can we refer to him by another name. Last name perhaps.

The name Danny is just still a bit of a sore point at Richmond these days.

would need to repeat those efforts, as that would normally be his avg touches a game at VFL which hardly presses for senior selection. heres hoping he may pull something out, his draft selection was a costly one for us

i thought he was good. he has bulked up alot in the hips and legs. has great vision and kicking skills.i hope he gets a crack soon. i thought kingy was poor today.

Where did he play?
Why can we try him as a small defender, has the pace and skill. Has he the desire.

All I know is that I saw the first three quaters of the game (had work) and Danny Meyer did not really impress me at all. He supposibly had a big last quater, but the game was over and junk time stats don't impress me.

He is still extreamly light. His build is alot closer to Shane Edwards.

Imo he still he and Casserly (I know he's contracted) have still alot to do to stay on the list come seasons end.

As for Conners, to me he looked unfit and uninterested. Showed some very sharp skills and had a good speccie in the 2nd but he is WAY overhyped on this board.

for reasons not even i understand...still think Danny boy will deliver. In his few appearances in the 1s, although maligned by many here with his lack of stats, IMO looked to have the class that we have lacked, when he actually did get it and how he hit hard when he tackled. Just reminds me of Wanganeen to much to not give him every opportunity to prove himself. Because if he does we have our tagger that damages the opposition the other way. ;)

Danny Meyer is as outside as you could possibly get imo.

after watching yesterday i dont think he is as outside as u wud think. He hit bodies hard and laid some great tackles i thought. and in the last quarter basically none of his disposals were junk time like a joel bowdens disposals. he was getting them in the middle at centre bounces or up forward.:thumbsu:

I watched this kid as a junior and he always looks like he is going half pace. He is a natural footballerand he needs to get his head right and put in at Coburg so that he earns a call up.
He will play better footy with better players around him and seems to think that he should be in the 1s and this contributes to him looking unintrested

Danny has that aura of an outside player but i dont think he is. He has struggled with injury last 2 years but he is quality. I remember the first match after the 04 draft probables v the Possibles. He was the clear standout under every pack and laying plenty of tackles.

He has close to the best kick in the side and is a player who will be better at AFL level compared to VFL level.

This is probably the first time he has been fully fit for two years so hopefully he is slowly re adjusting to the game and can continue to improve at VFL level before making the step upto the senior squad.

There were parts of the game yesterday where I thought Meyer looked both lazy and disinterested. As for his last quarter, it was quite good, but the Hawks were rubbish. The ball kept getting rebounded from our back 50 with ease, and Meyer was on the end of a few easy ones. Although, he did work pretty hard into space in order to get there in the first place.
Rance looks like a likely sort.
Thought Connors was one of our best quite easily.

I strongly disagree, but can definitely see why you'd think that.

As a regular Coburg watcher over the past 2 years I reckon that everytime I have watched Danny (even while he's playing injured) if he only got 5 possies then 3 of them were hard fought and won in tough contested situations. Seen him tackle big bodied players then wrestle them behind play pretty often.

Never once seen him pull out or skirt around a pack. Pettifer is the master at avoiding contact, Meyer invites it.

Danny has that aura of an outside player but i dont think he is.

I agree. Body shape, skill set and laconic jog are not very intimidating, but if Nathan Foley played forward pocket he wouldn't be a huge deal tougher than Danny around the packs.
