Considering how poorly we paid Pearce, the insignificant amount we didn't wish to match to retain pearce.........It was disgustingly poor form by our supporters to boo pearce.

Supporters have been booing former players when they return with their new team in every sport on earth for years. It's no big deal and it's to be expected.

Did Troy play like one of Hafey's Heroes today, or did he play like the Troy we got to know over all those years?

Going by some of the posts in this thread he was more Helen of Troy's ugly sister.

For the record I saw Pearce at the Port Club having lunch the day before last weeks game.

Is that why Ross was yelling at him? :P

No they do not do that in every sport on earth for years, dont make $hit up to justify our supporters getting it wrong.

Im certain that in Soccer and the NBA, the way pearce left our club.......He'd get a standing o at the NBA and a warm round of applause and his name being chanted at the soccer.

Now, the way chaplin left our club and behaved since........he'd get imaginary bricks thrown at him by everyone.

Did it have an negative effect on his game? If so then it's worth it.

As for soccer, he would have been booed to buggery!

There's some really aggressive new posters here of late.

Add some that are over confident who think we're a walk up for the flag.
Some posts on here and the main board are cringeworthy.

Chaplin .....I would love to know his thoughts right now. Left us to become finals player only to see it fade into a heap to depths of our 2011 leading into our 2012 seasons....

Pearce I was never fond of him as a player...just seemed like a guy who when the going got tough he whinged bitched and moaned about it all being to hard....but cant say I take as much pleasure in watching him squirm as much as I do watching chaplain...I guess I dont really care about him couldnt care if his team came last or won the flag

There's been some really good posters who've seemed to come over here since TPFP closed down, some not so good.
I don't think some people quite understand how difficult premierships are to win. It's not a matter of simply turning up and accepting the cup because it's "your time".

I do not know him but I certainly do not recall him bitching and moaning or anything along those lines ever. Neither in public (media etc) nor on the field.

Its more a personal vibe I got watching him....he was so easily mentally broken...thats what used to s*** me the most about him ....

A little sensitive there. Booing an ex-player is bog-normal and if you can think of it that way a mark of respect. If it's loud, angry and continuous that's different. But Pearcey just got the standard hoots. Wait until Chaplin plays at AO and you will recognise the difference.

I've learnt it's best not to have an opinion of Choco around certain new members, so all I'll say is I'm sure he'll make a great successor to Dimma after all the noticeable good work he's been involved in since he got there ;)

I didn't hear too much booing where I was sitting apart from when he lined up for goal but that happens for all opponents, it was more just the standard ironic jeers like you said when he made a clanger.

I think there's a different level of booing an ex player, comparing the treatment Monfries got every time he touched the ball against the Dons at the Dome with what Pearce copped & Danyl got off pretty lightly.

Posted this in the general thread a couple of hours after I asked how Chaplin played against Melbourne.

Richmond even have a thread dedicated to Chaplin

Almost like he is a disease or something.

That turnover when he had heaps of space and didn't wanna keep running probably cost us the game

The issue is that he isn't very good. Not strong enough to take the big forwards and simply pus with the ball in hand. A liability, Chaplin, Grigg & Houli should never play for the RFC ever again. Enough it enough.

I await Chaplin playing at AO in front of 45,000 - doing his traditional stuff up when out in the clear and no pressure - ball is miskicked to White who runs in and kicks a goal and Chaplin gets a standing ovation - and we get a good belly laugh.

The main board ones that with threads titles like "Why Port are the best team in the world" make me want to go postal. Must surely stop eventually?
