Did anyone else think he was unusually poor against Carlton? Seemed to not jump much and I would b surprised if we got many taps to advantage.

HOWEVER

is this more our midfield's fault? Judd seemed to just smash through and get the ball at many stoppages....

Was very frustrating..

Thoughts?

You stole that headline from the In Black and White tonight show.;)

He didn't have a great day, which was a bit of a shock, but either did Kreuzer or Warnock.

I was almost laughing at him early after he gave away his third free kick inside 15 minutes.

He was Darren "not so" Jolly today, on a number of levels.

Jolly rarely jumps in the ruck. IMO he needs to ruck from in front more so he gives away less of those 50-50 free kicks.

He's only been back from knee surgery for a few weeks now, plus his knee was heavily strapped. But I agree, he jumped too early against kreuzer numerous times and didn't get too far off the ground. He did do a couple of really good hit outs (Maybe it was Leroy, not too sure but it was a lovely hit out in the fourth anyway) Maybe we can afford to give him a rest next weekend and give Wood the chance to play against GC and have Jolly play for the VFL. It would be the perfect game for us to let him go since honestly, I doubt GC will have any chance in beating us. Then he will be cherry ripe for the Essendon game the following Sunday.

Does he really need a thread made about him after one less than average game?

It's been said he just came back from surgery and he was good against Hawthorn. He's much better than Wood even on today's form and always provides a good floating forward target even if he missed his chances today.

Off game, everyone has them, nothing more to it.

He is usually an accurate shot for goal. Something is a little off about that at present. I know he will rectify that before finals time.

Did he get off the ground last year? If he is carrying a dicky knee then let's rest him AOAP. If not, he needs more game time. UP to the player management people to do their thing with him and make sure he is the best he can get at final's time.

Was still competitive around the ground, took a couple of contested marks and his defensive efforts were good. All these things Wood is incapable of doing.

I don't understand what he's doing wrong, I rarely pick up the frees in the ruck contests.

I think Jolly, the Collingwood ruck coaches and the club would all like to know as well.
The ruck is a raffle, open to the "feelings" of the umpire at his whim.
Half the time neither ruckman knows who's free is being paid.

Pretty simple isn't it? He's a big man and just needs time to get on top of the ground. So much more a chance of winning with Jolly than our other option.
