Building a stadium on the basis of political promises is pretty stupid, though.

With the Perth Stadium, you'll get the stadium and rail links or nothing. Building a stadium, tapping your feet, and then blaming the government is pretty stupid.

Where are you getting this from? I have no proof to the contrary but I simply don't believe this to be true. The most supported team in Darwin appears to be Essendon judging on who my mates, teammates, acquaintances etc. support.
