Whats the deal here? Its just getting worse. Seems to be the case since 4G started.

Anyone else have this problem? I'm with Telstra too.

Also while I'm at it what is that septic smell near gate 4a?

None of the carriers has ever had the data capacity to handle a crowd at Football Park, and they never will - proposed upgrades were shelved when the ground was. They'll have to put new towers in, but the backbone of Adelaide should make things easier at Adelaide Oval - plus I recall something about a huge free wifi network being installed at the ground as well.

Telstra was sporadic, while Optus was only available during play in the middle of quarters and before the game. I've not used Vodafone since 3G was turned on, so I can't speak for it, but they always lag the other two.

My dad has a Galaxy S2 4G that works all the time. Drops out very rarely. We sit up in the Northern Grandstand, but I doubt that makes a difference

4G is slightly different, because even now there are very few people with 4G phones to share the tower with. When 4G has trickled down to the average consumer in a year or two, the same problem would occur, were we still playing there

Problem has got slowly worse with many people switching to telstra fro Vodafone and optus recently. Its not just a footy park problem, its anywhere that has a large group of people that ordinarily are not there. Cricket, day on the greens, royal show, oakbank, its a pain in the arse but there no easy solution other than people stop checking facebook every five minutes.

I don't have much experience at AAMI, but Subi is absolutely hopeless too. No coverage a half hour the match and any time after that, on Telstra or any network. And this is is 3km from the city centre, smack bang in the suburb of Subiaco.

Hopefully steps are taken by the ground and the telcos at AO.

Vodaphone has been better this season. Never get anything during quarter/half time breaks, but had no problems getting data (albiet slow) the rest of the time at the game on Sunday.

Won't be any better at Adelaide Oval either with the normal crowd of the city I'd suspect. Not unless Telstra/Vodafone/Optus build some more towers close to AO.

Probably when the quarters start it might, but if you are getting reception during the breaks, what super phone do I need to get to allow this?!

I have an iPhone 5 on Telstra... No problems even during breaks. Got a new phone and switched to Telstra in the off season, but can't remember whether I have had any data issues this year. Was certainly a problem last year.

Telstra 4G remains singularly the best service to use there, because it's high capacity, and so few people are using it. Your iphone 5 and my Xperia Z will have no problems at all getting data.

People using the 3G services are the ones with not even remotely enough supply to satisfy demand, especially for Optus/Vodafone

Until everyone gets 4g capable hardware!

well theres a completely uninformed opinion..

the city will work much better, the carriers have much greater capacity in the city than they do in the suburbs

Don't be so sure. During the two city events for the Tour Down Under this year there was major congestion issues on 3G and 4G connections. Mind you this is with roughly 100k spectators in about a 2km squared area but this was also closer to the CBD than Adelaide Oval. Hopefully the telco's are anticipating the AO move and have built some new infrastructure into the AO complex itself to help these issues.
