At the start of their carrers who looked/looks the better?

Aaron was better. Rising start nomination Round 1. Kicked in every game in his first season before pulling a hammy with four rounds to go and finishing second in the rising star to Rivers. If Alwyn can maintain his form for the whole year he can be equal with Aaron.

Alwyn is playing better footy atm, but Aaron is the more talented I think.

I hope I am proven wrong.

I do think that Alwyn will improve in 2008 over 2007. A full pre-season to increase his leg strength, giving him the ability to kick it 55, rather than 45 with be great. Also a sounder fitness base to allow him to run out full games will help enourmously.

The only reason Alwyn hasnt got a rising star nomination is because hes to old he is playing better football then Aaron already so in my mind its gotta be Alwyn

Don't be so unashamedly biased. Aaron simply isn't playing well at the moment. If your memory could penetrate back to 2006 you might remember exactly what he can do. But it appears you are perhaps not so astute.

Aaron is the better but Alwyn looks good so far. Aaron will bounce back this week i reckon.

I know what Aaron can do but Alwyn is showing more for his first year then Aaron did and is showing a up and coming superstar. Aaron has been overrated

Alwyn looks good but claiming him a superstar and saying his brother is overrated is stupid

Aaron can kick more than 50m, is a much better mark and edges him for speed. Alwyn did a pre-season with the dees and is a yard slower.

I think Aaron is better atm, but Alwyn actually pips him for speed. They both have admitted to it:thumbsu:

not that there would be much in it though, both like lightening.

Aaron 29 52.73%
Alwyn 26 47.27%

LMAO!

This is comparable to saying a young player Marc Murphy is as good as a young veteran like Daniel Kerr because he's had a good start to the season.

Save this sort of garbage for Bay 13.

It appears a lot of people have short memories.

If you had read the thread correctly it is who is/was better at the start of their carrer, not at the moment.

Both Aaron and Alwyn have started their careers well the real question now is if they both can keep in form but i think the afl went over board on Aaron last year with the afl teamcoach add and he was being very overrated

Alwyn's way better. Has Aaron even been playing this year?

21 touches, 6 tackles, 2 goals vs Fremantle. We know he isn't in great form but is getting better and statistically that was one of his best games (though stats don't always mean too much)

They both shot onto the scene.

Alwyn has been super impressive with his forward pressure, the Dons really needed that.

I was equally impressed with Aarons ability to go to the next level, particularly last year. So hopefully Alwyn can follow him in that regard to.

No doubt that Alwyn has been exciting in his first 5 game. Have to love watching either of them play. However, people have very, very short memories. Aaron hasn't been in great form of late (with the exception of the last game aginst freo, when he had over 20 possessions), but has been consistently brilliant since he shot on to the scene. Alwayn looks like a good young player, but he has a fair way to go before he catches his brother. For the sake of all footballer followers I hope he continues to improve and and build on his great start to his career.

I wonder, though, if Alwyn wasn't a Davey would he be getting this much attention. For all the talk of how good he has been, his best game by far was against Collingwood, but his opponent, R Shaw, had 26 possessions rebounding off him.

Alwyn Davey has had some good games, but also 1 shocker against Carlton. He turned the ball over 6-7 times for the day, with about 3-4 goals resulting from these turnovers. They were at critical stages. Has been exciting to watch though, and listen to the crowd roar as he runs and tackles. Aaron has proved himself for a longer period of time and has had a few quiet games this year. Im sure he will bounce back as he started to show last wk against Freo.

Froggy has obviously had a better year so far, by Aaron was also a sensation when he started out. Alwyn will have to sustain his early season form to catch up. Thats a big ask from a 1st year player.

Dees got the right brother.
