You're being kind.
Bloody stupid report by a twit of an umpire.
Thought he'd get a week, as he left the ground for it, but it was minimal contact exaggerated by Dal Santo.
I thought the same thing. Damn Del Santo is soft. If I saw him in the street I might have to punch him.
I think the umpires may not have given us a fair go. I think when they penalised Lloyd when he took that mark in front of goal was unfair. They were just holding each other before he marked.
I think the report itself summed the umpires performance for the night. we were rarely really rewarded for anything especially all the good tackles and that Lloyd incident was just as bad.
In fairness to Dal Santo he was just playing for the free kick, which is exactly what Davey would do if the positions were reversed. And St Kilda did submit a medical report saying that Dal Santo didn't need any medical treatment as a result so it's not like he did anything malicious.
I think it was his habit of standing 5 meters outside of a pack and waiting for a cheap handball receive. Stanton does the same thing, but I have actually seen Stants get a clearance.
If I can digress for a moment, I have to say one of the things that has impressed me about Knights and his staff is how they have forced our playing group to improve (or at least try to improve) certain areas of their game. In previous years I would have rated Lovett and Stanton as soft as Dal, but this year (and last, but this second year of his coaching tenure especially) they have gone in hard when needed.
I thought Lovett slacked off a little against North and Brisbane a few times, especially in a physicality sense, but against the Hawks and the Saints he was back on his game and took hits and put his head over it when needed. I wouldn't be surpised if during their one on one weekly revision if he didn't have a couple of things pointed out to him. Undoubtedly teams need outside players, but I like how Knights seems to be trying to make all players more well-rounded and versatile and get the most out of them.
But that's totally off topic, you just got me thinking.
