i have seen him play quite a few times for casey he played pretty good in the games i saw

Not ready. Needs to sharpen up most areas of his game and his fitness is nowhere near the level required for an AFL player. With a huge pre season he might play a role in 2008, but I wouldn't judge him until 2009.

My sources say similar things - that he has all the skills that it takes to make it in the big time. He even has shown some nice speed and definitely great endeavour. He simply lacks the fitness to make it yet. In fact, I was surprised to hear that he really doesn't even have the fitness to run out a VFL match fully yet !

I think Gets is referring to his myspace page at the time he was drafted. In his profile the question asked whether he smoked and drinked and he answered yes to both.

Whatever the case, I'm confident he's got a bright future in front of him. He hasn't turned out to be the walk up start for round 1 like some of our supporters expected but he's had a very good season for the Scorpions and the more he plays and trains the fitter he'll get. I'd rather a player that wins a heap of the ball and has to work a bit on his fitness than an athlete that can't find the ball any day of the week.

One of my many disappointments this year.

I don't quite understand the fitness problem.

Was he injured pre-season?

I ask the question because I read this regarding the draft camp.

...he went on to finish in the top ten for both the shuttle run (beep test) and the three-kilometre time-trial.

Surely he should have been one of the few draftees with the ability to run VFL games out.

Thats a good point you make dmc. Not really sure about that one.
