Is there expected to be an announcement at 2pm or something? Hope he goes to the Mariners!!

F'd if I know. They said breaking news at 2 on SEN and Foxtel

Scary must of persuaded Posh to come to Australia......

Posh: DAVID! Grab your stuff luv. Were off to Australia. You can still be a soccer star over there and make a couple of bucks. I can get a job on oz TV and rake in some easy money too.

David: But I dont want too. They called me nasty names!

Posh. That was the New Zealanders luv. Oh c'mon, they will luv you. Just keep your trap shut.

Would love him at Heart but whoever he signs with, it will be huge for the league. I think it can only be a good thing, will put bums on seats and folks will realise how great the atmosphere is. Sure, some will drop off when he departs, but others will be rusted on pretty quickly.

Oh yes because David Beckham makes rivalries much more heated.

I mean there will be 8-10k extra attendance at the games.

Didn't take Heart fans long:

Would be huge. The biggest sportsman in the world. And he's an endearing role model for the game. Has plenty of respect and everyone knows his name. He would be immeasurably good for the game, for now and for the future. The economic benefits it'd have for clubs would be strong, and the interest it'd garner for the code... yeah, pretty big.

Ten years ago, the notion of Yorke would've been questionable.

Heskey? Maaaaaaaybe.

Del Piero? Never.

Heskey, Del Piero, possibly Kewell, possibly Beckham? Insane.

I can't see it happening really, how do they work around the marquee/international restrictions?
You think the FFA would miss a huge opportunity because of that?

He is also, still, a decent footballer. He'd add a bit of experience and class to any A-League team.

Another overpaid 40 year old? Yay.
You are an idiot.

He would pay for himself. The income generated through shirt sales, tickets, memberships, and sponsorship agreements would pay for at least half his salary. Plus, the FFA would chip in a fair proportion of his wage.

The Beckham name is huge.

Would basketball fans turn down Michael Jordan in his last few years? Even if he was past it, the name and attention would be great for the sport.

Beckham is still a decent player. People have this smug, Eurosnob attitude that he's "passed it" or a hack. Would you rather see the A-League full of no name state league players? Jesus. He's lost his speed and agility and tank, but you don't lose skill. He has experience. He would immensely benefit the kids in the A-League.
