Fall Out Boy

Anyone else read this in the HUN?

Took a nice shot at Geelong, our coaching and our supporters.

He came across as both bitter, and unable to see his own faults and weaknesses.
Doesn't surprise me, the David Clarke i knew at Deakin blamed everyone else for his problems, both on and off the football field.

A couple of his quotes:

"At Geelong, we didn't really have a set game plan"

"I don't have to put up with people's pre-conceived ideas about me, comments about my kicking or about my dad."

"I don't kick floaters and I don't miss as many targets as some people reckon, At Carlton, the supporters aren't waiting for me to turn the ball over."

I can handle the first comment, the second one infuriated me and the last made me laugh out loud. One insinuates that Geelong supporters don't understand the game, which is a tad rich from Clarke, who has the worst football brain i've ever seen.

The last comment is just laughable. The boy is in denial over his skills, hell this is the bloke who i saw kick 4 grubbers in one match, the bloke i saw hurt his foot in a VFL game when he missed the ball and kicked the ground.

I'm just glad he's gone, we don't need footballers who lack skill and smarts, yet won't admit it.

Thoughts?

That's because they haven't seen him play yet!

With an attitude like that, it's no wonder he's no longer there!

Good riddance to bad rubbish, I say.

"Tad rich" or not it doesn't take away from how much truth is in it.

Can't really belame the kid! Streaming down the wing and looking up to a forward line that contains, Kingsley, Mooney or Graham would be enough to make me spray my kicks. Why kick to a target? It's just going to come straight back!

Yep, our forward line is atrocious, only matched in it's ineptitude by your backline.

How else could you explain your inability to beat us since 2001.

And you will come to know exactly how that feels.

then y didnt we get the wooden spoon last year Or the year before when carlton got it:p

Think about it........why would Clarke need to have excellent disposal if he is going to be kicking LONG into the forward line instead of over possessing and kicking short.

More possessions, more chance to make a mistake, more turnovers

So he'll get 4 clangers instead of 8?

I like the fact that Clarke has got plenty of courage in him but I am still sceptical of his worth. When we got him during the draft my first thought was "Oh dear... this is not going to work out". Look, I'm still going to give him a chance and see if he will be worthy but I'm not holding my breath. I'd like too see him handball as much as possible, run through the lines and do the rough stuff instead.

I don't know when he'll improve his kicking or not, but you can't teach courage. Probably be a tagger of sorts, but I'd rather have Hulme or McCormick in the starting line-up.

I think you are thinking about his brother, Tim. David is scared of his own shadow. You will never see him put his body on the line, ever.

He has courage, but it's kinda dumb courage. He does silly things like try to fight Lockett, rather than putting his head over the ball.

He does have immense athletic talent, just that his kicking is atrocious and he doesn't understand the game.

I'm sure Pagan will be able to teach him some fundamentals of the game, going from a shocking coach to the best in the business will do that, however if the bloke doesn't admit his kicking is poor, he will never become more than a bit player.

That's true, although as i said, he has dumb courage.

He certainly would never put his head over the ball, or back into a pack, but he would mouth off to the monoliths.

3 kicks, 2 handballs.

Wrote cheques that his arse couldn't cash.

Perhaps next time he'll start performing before mouthing off.

Inept wasn't strong enough.

How many times did our atrocious forwards win one on one contests?

Good quality forward lines will murder Carlton's inept defence.

He did last week. I think his application in that area wil limprove under Pagan. His kicking? Meh.

I wouldn't be saying 'Meh' if i were you ;)

You'll be cursing the bastard in 10 weeks time.

Hah. If he gets a game that is. McCormick is a far better option than him, perhaps even Justin Davies (who should be getting more gametime IMO). ;)

Denis Pagan is the best coach in the land, but not even he can give a player a heart.

It's sad to say, but he will get a game. In fact he'll be a regular.

He was a regular at Geelong, and i'd like to think we had a stronger list than Carlton.

Don't know why, but he always seems to get a game.
