...has just been delisted from the pies'!

I dont know a huge deal about him other than that he was thrusted into the ruck after Fraser was injured. He is listed on the Collingwood Footy Club website as 204cm 100kg and is only 22-23 yrs old.

Also wonder what collingwood are doing over there? Hopw many rucks apart from Fraser are left if they have delisted both Cameron Cloke and David Fanning.

Is it worth us picking him up PSD? Thoughts?

ClayBlue 87........

How about we draft proven quality or just draft kids instead.

90% of people here bag Pagan for his re-tread policy, but keep on throwing up options of drafting 1/2 baked spuds year after year.

So either we get a class ruckman in the PSD that will help us (most unlikely), or rather draft one at 17, 19, 35 or 51 in the draft & develop / wait.

Bryan is a better option than Fanning & has had better results.

He will be gone in 3 years when whoever we draft over the next few years develops & overtakes him.

In the meantime, lets stay away from the lure of another Mclaren & develop our own.

ok thanks... i was just wondering becuase i havent seen him play, normally dont make a habit of watching collingwood play, was just interested as he is another tall ruckman....

I am really stressing about what we are going to do in the ruck this year. Bryan and McLaren are too short, not sure how tall De Luca is (200+?) but is more of a forward. Batson and Aisake O'hAilpin are both 200+ but nothing much can be sead of them.

Looking for a second-time-around ruckman is a time-honoured approach.

Jeff White, Matthew Clarke, Matthew Ball, Spider Burton, Spider Everitt, John Barnes, our own Justin Madden, and now Troy Simmonds, were all picked up as recycles and had great careers. It's not a dumb idea.

Fanning certainly sounds big enough and is only 22. He's late to the game a la Dean Brogan, so you'd expect him to take even longer to find his feet than ruckman normally do.

Might be worth making him a rookie if that's possible.

He isnt late to the game, played juniors from under 10-under 18's in the same teams as brock mcclean from melbourne and jesse smith from north melbourne and wasnt noticed by talent scouts, he is a spud and if carlton pick him up they are taking a step backwards.

I went by the Pies site which said he was a former NBL player - I presumed that meant he hadn't played much football. I stand corrected.

I have no opinion on whether he has any talent, but it looks like Collingwood doesn't think so.

A sign that the Pies think that one of Leuenberger or Sellar may slip to 8 IMO.
Fanning was thrown in at the deep end, and did come across from B'ball. Went o.k at centre square for a guy who has no body on him, but looked lost everywhere else (only saw him once saw may be corrected).
Don't think we bother, better to get Goldstein or some other young ruck as a late pick and try to develop them IMO.

Id prefer to develop our own ruckman aswell...but it is easier said than done...Where is Batson? Where is young O'hAilpin? They take time and resources, the truth is that we need something for season 07

We may have to accept our current ruck division for next year. We can't fix everything at once, and its likely if we try to fix it next year (apart from drafting Leuenberger), it will only be temporary anyway.
I've come around Effes - develop our own (and pray Gardiner doesn't win a Brownlow next year).

We need to get a young ruck in the draft and leave
the duties to mclaren and bryan.
Bryan has alot of potential they just have to sought out the problem
wether it's the attitude or not given enough oppurtunities.
Mclaren didn't get enough game time, french spent to much
time on the ground.

Will be interesting to see how our current rucks perform without French. A great opportunity for one of them to step up. :)

Don't bother mate. Has been injury plagued all his career. Has got talent, but I think we just got a bit sick of his injury toll.
