That is Gold:thumbsu:.

Have to also agree with comments re our clubs having a tough job to keep players from interstate. The fact that Adelaide is the least attractive city in the AFL for newcommers to settle in and enjoy is just a problem we have to deal with.

The clubs understand this and whilst other clubs have their difficulties this is one that we need to pay a lot of attention to. IMO the best way is to find the boys an Adelaide girl.

When Scotty Welsh moved back from Nth Melb it was reported he was homesick. The main thing that brought him back was the girl. Now look at him, must be over that homesickness;)

If Sydney can have a higher salary cap because of the extra living expenses, why can't we have a higher salary cap to retain players? After all, Brisbane had it for a while also.
Either that or let us have first go at all the south Aussies in the draft.:D
(I know.. I'll be able to see pigs fly, first)

because it probably costs the club 3x more to give homes for the new kids they draft. housing in sydney is very expensive, especially when compared to Adelaide.

Not good news at all about david mackay. My sister is involved with the media, and has it on good authority that david mackay hates adelaide and is missing his girlfriend. When the media released the story with the doubts over mackay, john reid rang up the station and was furious.. however it doesnt look good for young david :(

I think a few of you old timers need to go and have a lie down, before you get too worked up.

And Markthirtytwo, you'll find that when they actually did those things stated, they were young - but, like the best of us (and by us I mean not me), time and age caught up with them ;)

Do you mean from conception to ..............
fruition?

Poor Mrs. MacKay.

Wrong! What would the media know??

Dmac doesn't hate Adelaide mate, he has settled in extremely well and loves it up there!

Once bitten twice shy I guess. People are seeing tiny little suggestions that maybe he's homesick and assuming the worst.

I'd bet that he'll still be there in five years time.
ok.. personally id love to have him at the pies,
and same with nathan batsanis who was at port.

it will be interesting to see what he chooses to do

i played footy with dmac for about 4 years both at school and at oakleigh and is one of my best mates. had dinner with him the other night as he was down for the weekend of the tribute game to see his family and girlfriend. he flew back saturday morning. he informed me that he loved adelaide, that the club was terrific to him and his family and that he had no intention of leaving the club and was hopeful that all his contract talks went really smoothly for him and the club. should put some hope into some crows doubters.

While im sceptical of the number of people who seem to claim intimate knowledge of players and their feelings, i do hope you're on the money.

I'm a really trusting person so I'm not being cynical here, but it is surprising how many people on BF seem to personally know Mackay. Of course, half of the people claim that he hates it and the other half claim that he loves it here.

I'm going to choose to believe the second group :p
We definetely need to release a 'David Mackay Membership Package'.

We would be first to break the 60,000 mark.

cheers for the info hernia and tclann, great to get a bit of inside knowledge and good to hear the boy's loving it in Adelaide.

cmndstab, i would be pretty trusting of these guys as they arn't crows supporter and yet they are confirming that DMac loves it here when I'm sure they'd love him to go back to melbourne.

Was bored and digging around through old posts tonight and came across this one that was posted right around the time I first signed up. I remember reading it and being a bit depressed about it because I was worried we'd lose D-Mac :(

Nothing seems to have come of it though - his contract was extended at the end of last year, right?

He probably stopped being a whiny 17 year old, made some friends and left the house.

A little bit of confidence is good for us all.

D Smooth.

This kids is all class, and like Tippett, the way he celebrates and acts with the fellow youngsters, he's home already.

The semi-final loss last year would have shown a lot of the kids that winning a flag is hard. You can have a skilled team and it still may not go your way.

They all seem to be very aware of the talent about to come through and I doubt many of them (baring the ones who get pushed out of the top 25 odd) would want to leave this.

As far as the change in attitudes etc.

Imagine living your whole live in Melbourne, all your mates etc etc, then your drafted to Adelaide at 17, then you go straight into a boot camp pre season getting your body destroyed like it neveer has been before, to only be able to get SANFL games.

You'd start pretty ho hum.

But then you find mates inside and outside of the club, you get some games, and you start liking the environment the club has and its group of youngsters.

Would be much easier joining Adelaide now than it was 4-7 years ago.
