cricket,
i have only watched parts of saturdays game against the gold coast, but gee i was impressed with david mackay. his smooth movement and kicking skills running through the middle is just what we need.the team looks so much better with him in there.

Re: david mckay

Probably his best performance for the club besides the Collingwood final... You just feel at so much more ease with the ball in his hands, I really hope the injuries are past him!

Re: david mckay

This is the standard David Mckay needs to keep up. It is one of the rare times in his career where he challenged for the best players on the ground.

He is the most unobtrusive player on our list. Rarely does too little, but rarely does a lot. I'm not sure I've ever actually heard him speak. He could well possibly be mute.

erm no.

he's played that well plenty of times.
One game at the Gabba particularly sticks out

Re: david mckay

Roo mentioned during the call that if he could put 22 games together next year you'll really see him start to get some recognition around the league....

His skills are exquisite, his run and carry invaluable, he's just gotta stay on the park...really hope he can manage to do so because I rate him very highly...as does Roo I'd say!

He had 2 goal assists to Walker (one of which was pretty much a goal already), another goal assist to someone else i can't remember, and 2 goals himself...one of which was a nice curling shot from the boundary line. Very skilled player and played a fantastic game. It was great to see him back in the team from injury and back in form. Now he just has to keep it up and not get injured.

Re: david mckay

And twice in the 4th quarter he turned on a dime and completely lost his opponent. One was his beautiful sliding goal.

Re: david mckay

If he can maintain that sort of disposal next year and manage to stay on the field we might not need to trade for a mid. He fills a role we definitely need to play our best football. Hope he gets a full pre-season to bulk up and improve his conditioning. Good game, keep it up!

Re: david mckay

We still need to consider the opposition but his return was definitely sublime.

He's still yet to really take hold of a game (aside from the 2009 Semi-Final where I thought he came of age) but even an average game from him is still well worth having.

Even if he only gets 15 touches, you know that they'll be quality possessions. We don't have too many mids like him that have the pace to really break the lines, nor the foot skills to hit leading targets with elite consistency.

We need more players like him. We just need to him to stay on the park in the meantime.

Re: david mckay

Disposal, fitness, reading of the play, none of them are issues for Mackay. It's simply keeping his body going that will determine whether he reaches the heights he is capable of.

When he's up and running he's one of our most important players.

that and smiling, I would love to see him show some joy in a game, just once!

pretty sure he is a lone wolf that tolerates the pack but finds himself superior to it!

sorry medication for post op may have influenced this post.

Really pleased that as soon as he was fit he came straight back into the lineup...say alot about his standing at the club.

Thought he was the best user by the crows on the day. Thommo is a freak and yes 51 is just amazing, but not all 51 were quality and D-Mac's were.

A fit 22 round D-Mac means lot more W's in 2012.

Big fan of the iceman. Needs to really hit the weights this summer.

I thought he looked a bit bigger on the weekend compared to in the past. He's never going to be huge though he doesn't have the frame for it. He's still strong through the hips and he's really agile and obviously quick so that will make up for the size. Plus you don't want to try and turn him into some sort of inside ball winning machine that's the one thing we don't lack! Let him do what he does well, deliver to leading forwards :)

7th time in 61 games he's had more than 25 touches and 15th game where he has had more than 20. He's got to start routinely delivering games like this before we get too excited.

As soon as David can get his body right, he will be this generations Tyson Edwards.

A very good player but always in the shadow of the star player (danger, Vince and walker)
