Interesting. We're used to having several high draft picks so to have none in the top 20 would be unusual. Let's be honest though, he'd be a terrific fit for our midfield. Aside frm the fact that he's a gun, it'd allow for Trengove and Scully to develop without getting as much pressure as they otherwise would. Scully is almost our best midfielder and I could see him being tagged a fair bit next year. That probably wouldn't happen with Mundy in the team.

We think that the Jamar/Moloney combination is good...the Jamar/Mundy combination would be even better.

Mundy is a very good player but he isn't an 'A' grader for mine.
It is interesting looking at his career stats. He has only had 30 or more possessions twice in his career. Both of those were this season. Back in R.9 he collected 31 possessions against North and last week against Geelong in the Semi-Final he collected 30 possessions.
The total amount of possessions isn't what I am basing this on but I do find it interesting that he has only hit that mark twice in 130 AFL games.

Absolute gun. I love him as a player and am slightly surprised he's only reached 30 possies twice, but then again it's not the amount of times he gets it that's impressed me, its how he gets it and what he does with it. Elite clearance machine.

But, after hearing what Dean Bailey said the other day on radio, he mentioned we could be fairly aggressive in trading but for what we need - a quality stay at home forward/ruckman. So I reckon we might aim for landing a gorilla before Mundy.

i really want mundy with what i had seen of him. As said will be a gun. Top 10 in 3 years I think.

What does he cost us?

Pick 12 + a player will do it.

Whos un-contracted? Really don't want to lose Jones, love the guy.

were we one the verge of a premiership I would say yes. same goes for Brennan. but as it currently stands I think we're a year or two away from looking at trading for quality players

It would take more than pick 12 to land Mundy.

Personally I think he would be crazy to leave Fremantle. Their youngsters are as good as anyone in the league and they also have a couple of elder stars in Pavlich and Sandilands. I can see them winning a flag in the next 3 years.

If we could get mundy at pick 12 I would jump at the chance considering brock went for pick 13. But I doubt we will get that lucky, I think as has been mentioned pick 12 and a player, doubt Jones will want to WA though so would have to look at a WA player.

Nathan Jones was in Sydney btw, could there be something in that?

I would rather Mundy than Brennan for sure.

Both are asking for a similar figure contractually but Mundy's consistancy and being a Victorian would sit with me better.

Would happily give up Jones or Warnock (if as they are saying Tarrant is leaving) and our 1st rounder for Mundy.

They'll demand too much IMO. Mundy has just had his best year, is only 25 and they can play hardball knowing he'll probably stay than risk going into the PSD.

Good player, but pass. If we're going to throw around that Pick 12 (or more), I want it to be used going after a big forward.

need to move heaven and earth as essendon and richmond are in better positions as they have higher picks to offer.

Would be a terrific pick up.

I think Essendon will get this guy. The exact type of player they need. They should have room in there cap and have a higher pick than us in the draft.

Would like to see us have a crack at him though. Happily give up pick 12 for him. I think pick 12 is very hit or miss. Some are holding it in very high regard here, but I'd be happy to give it away for a quality player like Mundy. He would compliment our young midfield perfectly.

Id give up pick 12 for Mundy. Theres always next years draft where me might land a tall.

Hopefully Essendon dont get him because they would draft a midfielder with pick 8 - whereas I could see the Dockers having a look at Lynch, Darling or Gorringe.

I would give up 12 for Mundy as well, he's an absolute gun.

Having said that, I'll be equally happy to keep 12 and take our chances in the draft as well, given that there should be some very talented kids still around at that pick.

I think we forget about Mundy.

Chase Benny McKinley from WC, he wouldnt be half
as costly at the trade table as Mundy and we do need a bigger
bodied foward and McKinley fits the bill - plays tall aswell.

That way we'd still have pick 12 to hopefully snare Josh Caddy.

Mundy would hurt us in the hip pocket and we dont need that.

I want to see Melbourne land a gun player in a trading period just because it happened since before I can remember. I think it's important for our brand and image as a club. I'm sick of seeing sought after players like Warnock, Judd etc. show some interest then piss of elsewhere. Be great to get a young player other clubs want, just because.

Melbourne wont and shoudlnt aim for a big fish in trade time until next year or the year after, for our premiership push.
I believe i have read somewhere that cam schwab says this and that is the reason we r front ending contract atm
Go after a player when we r atleast in the eight already to add extra depth.

But yes totally agree it would be amazing to get a player from another club, it will happen, i justr hope not this year i feel it is a bit too early

Where is Morton at surely he is a similar player to Mundy, is he still contracted, he just dosent seem to fit into your side.

Contracted.

He'll fit in the side, just needs some bulk. Another pre-season will help.

Am I the only one who thinks Mundy is bit of a down-hill skier with questionable disposal under pressure? He looks good when the Heave-hos are up and running, but struggles with a hard tag. Is that not the last thing we need?
