Mundy just gets better and better. It is unbelievable how he keeps flying under the radar. Always seems to pop up with an important goal at the right time. He tackles hard, is a clearance master and the skills...

Some stats to the end of round 5:

K: 72 (1)
H: 70 (1)
M: 25 (4)
HO: 6 (3) :p
T: 31 (2)
G: 6 (4)

Thought his first three quarters were a little average in terms of fumbles. However his last quarter was inspirational and game winning. He got the first goal of the final quarter within 30 seconds didn't he?

He has taken another quantum leap in his performances so far this year and would probably be leading the Doig up till now.

Always been a fan of Mundy
But gotta admit i never thought he would be a midfielder.
I always thought his best spot was the spare man in defense type role that Johnson is playing.

He has become a gun in midfield.

People talk about Pav not getting recognition, but if Mundy played in Vic he would be classified as one of the stars of the comp right now for sure. He's even underrated a bit here in Perth IMO.

Racks up plenty of numbers but is a better user than say Swan or Boyd with ball in hand.

Can't believe some of the bros here think it was only in the last year that he became a truly great player for this club. Has been rock-solid since '06 at least and now integral to our midfield structure.

Watching the game from Subi I thought Mundy was good but not great. But I just watched the game again and he was absolutely fantastic! His 29 possies and 2 goals deserves 3 brownlow votes ahead of Boyds 45 touches. He was and is all class.

Good midfielders rack up numbers, there's nothing special there. But Mundy is close to elite AFAIC. His usage is as good as there is, he's tall and has good hands (I know he clunked one in the doggies game, but that is rare thing), he makes good decisions, kicks goals and is no more a defensive liability than other offensive minded mids (eg. Pav). He's an organised player and does a lot of organising on the field too. He covers a lot of miles and he's gets to contests when he needs to. He's not your 'tough nut' type, that aside, he the complete midfielder. I'll toast Mundy any day of the week.

Here Here (or is it Hear Hear)

Honestly barely noticed Boyd.

Mundy was bloody awesome...clean at the clearances, clean hands, and magic kicking

From my vantage point at the game - all I saw of the Bulldogs was bloody Boyd kicking the ball. When I saw the stats that he had 45 possessions I wasnt suprised.

Really enjoyed Hall's out of bounds on the full (twice :P)

If he was based over east he'd be a walk up start AA at this point. His poise and polish as as good as anyone, especially kicking inside 50. He drills kicks to leading forwards or kicks goals himself.

I'd struggle to find many mids that would oust him at the momenf from an AA spot. Boyd might of had 45 touches but Mundy killed off the Doggies on Monday.

Yeah I didn't notice Boyd much either

Noticed Cooney and Hall miss all their shots on goal

Mundy was great - so glad we've got him locked down in WA for the next 3-4 years :D
Big props to his girlfriend, must be a good shag? ;)

Article in the Herald Sun here in Melbourne about how Dustin Martin should be considered elite already because he is involved in 34% of Richmond scores, which is behind only Franklin (35%). They have a little list of the top players for that statistic and lo and behold Mr Mundy is 5th in the league. Yet again, slipping under the radar (not to mention Fyfe being ignored) and notwithstanding that Martin's 34% is based on 118 total score's for richmond and Mundy's 33% is based on Freo's 143 total scores. Anyway, this isn't a criticism of Martin, he's a gun, its just to highlight how often our great man Mundy falls under the radar. Even in WA.
