I totally get the sentimentality. Dave is a Suns legend.

However, I'm going to be controversial and not in the theme of this thread or general board consensus right now.

Whilst Dave showed loyalty, he's never been in the top 50 players in the AFL. He's won a single best and fairest.

Personally I feel like Touk has had way more influence over turning around the clubs direction.

We've got some absolute guns in the team now who could conceivably win Brownlow medals, be premiership captains and not only be Suns legend, but be AFL legends.

I'm happy with something like Player's player. I wouldn't go down the line of naming BNF after him etc..

Build a statue or something.. sure.

Someone else has already mentioned this.......but how about sharing naming the Ashcroft Medal................Dave has done as much for this Club, if not more, than Ashcroft.......I'd luv to see the Swallow-Ashcroft Medal presented by Dave, if the Suns win, and the other bloke if the mob up north win...just sayin'

How about keeping him in the fold by giving him a non-playing role at the club from next year onward? Feels like a pretty easy way to continue his legacy at the club by actually keeping the man inside the four walls.
