Isn’t that everything you want in a coach?

It’s a bloody good start.

Things like culture building, skill development, fitness and preseason management, resilience, communication with others, not sexually harassing staffers - all important as well.

Like I said, I think Teague is worth a shot given what we have seen. There’s a chance it all falls apart when the going gets tough, but I think he’s worth the risk - at least moreso than Ross Lyon and Brad Scott

Love that he's an inclusive coach...using a 'whole club' approach and empowering not just the players but the other coaches.
Personable guy who us fans like.

Lyon on the other hand, outside from the sexual harassment situation, seems like a Malthouse type authoritarian who would make it clear he's the boss and other coaches really just do what he says. He's also prickly with the media and showing signs of wear...i doubt he'd be able to lift a 3rd club.

Anyone watch Footy Classified last night? I just watched it on 9NOW online.

Found it interesting that Hutchy was saying Teague was essentially pushed out of Adelaide at the end of 2017 because he was one guy who would actually let his thoughts be known and challenge Pyke, instead of being another yes man and be part of the boys club Adelaide have going on at the moment.

This is despite Adelaide making a Grand Final that year and being an offensive juggernaut with a firing forward line. Also well documented he had good relationships with players there like McGovern & Betts.

I didn't know that's what happened and how he found his way to Carlton. Thank you Crows! What a gift.

Assuming it's true, i'm sure Teague enjoyed the win vs Adelaide that little bit more on the inside as a bit of a 'cop that' to Pyke.

My only concern with Clarkson is what the $$$ hit on our soft cap would be. I think he'll stay at Hawthorn anyway.

Teague would come cheap, and would allow us to appoint his desired version of Neil Craig as a mentor plus any top-line assistants.
It makes so much sense, but do we trust the club to get it right?

I’m not sure

From what I have seen this year I am pretty confident against West Coast & the cats.
Only game I think might be beyond us is the tigers.

I think we will get beaten by the Eagles and Cats. I have a feeling that we will targeting the Tigers game as our grand final. Should be too good for Saints.

Teague himself said that he left Adelaide for family reasons.

Something out of left field. Watching these guys discussing the role of a Fagan like head coach (man manage/player relationships) . Goddard says that Grant Thomas was the best he has come across. Would come cheap and could be a great support to DT like Craig was to BB. Also BJ could be an interesting assistant coach- he is quite articulate and smart. DT could do worse than bolstering his team with these 2.

Happy to see how the next four weeks pan out, but Teague as senior coach just feels right. Even over Clarke.

The change across so many facets of the club’s fortunes is simply remarkable. Teague’s influence has been monumental. We’ll see what happens over the next few weeks but I’m all onboard the Teague train.

I’m Teague over Clarko. It just feels right. He has history with the club, the supporters and players love him, and he is an impressive individual. He’s shown great game day coaching and is a great media performer.

We have done the messiah thing before. I’m all in on Teague. But I would like him to have a director of coaching/mentor, maybe not a Paul Roos but more Alan Richardson who can also be a senior assistant figure

Pssst - rumour going around that Clarke becomes Teague. Source?
Seen changing in phonebox near Marvel.

This is exactly the discussion I was having with someone over the weekend.

So the 'heavy-hitters' were out in force at the Presidents luncheon on the weekend....and all the coaching panel representatives were most likely present - Logiudice, Liddle, Judd, Lloyd and Campbell. Maybe they can be swayed or influenced and maybe they can't, but we know how things can work, when money and promises in favour of the club are floated.

Best guess is that Clarkson is still favoured, but Teague closing in.
We may well make the right decision in the end, but it may just be for the wrong reasons.

Right now though, I think either can and will be seen to be a win for the club.
I'd rather think of Teague's appointment as being a win for the supporters rather than a win for money and influence. There is a feeling around Carlton now that the beast has awoken and the supporters are not going to be denied. If anything the money and influence guys would just be acknowledging this reality.

... and I'm also pretty sure we have CEO in Liddle that is hyper sensitive to the supporter base.

Jonathan Brown didn't seem to think Teague would get the job. Seemed quite sure of himself. Strong view or is in the know?

We've done the messiah, we've done the non AFL playing coach... We've done the favourite son..... If you rule people out based on what we've done and failed at, you limit your options.

Opinions, opinions, just opinions.

Fair to say that Teague wasn't the CFC's prime target and many people will have varying ideas on who the best candidate may be, but how can anyone possibly declare Teague to be out of the picture, unless Clarkson has an agreement in principle with the CFC right now.

e.g.
What if Teague wins every game from here on in and Lyon loses all his? Imagine trying to sell Lyon to be the best bet for the CFC? You couldn't.
The Voss/Roos combination just feels flaccid. I know it's popular because of the Roos profile........but is it really? Does Roos make us better?
Scott? Hardly worth a mention and then what? Hinkley? Other assistant coaches? Nothing else seems right, does it?

A line could not have possibly been put through Teagues name just yet and if it was early on, the white-out would have come out of the desk drawer.

thought he was more 'hasn't got the job yet' or 'it isn't in the bag' than 'no way'.
