Sorry, meant drafting and trading. I actually meant to say 'brought in" rather than drafted, but thought there may have been a hint there when I said "the last 6 draft and trading periods".

Well, when you're including rookies, and and our sound rebuilding strategy of churning cheap older players while hitting the top end of the draft, it doesn't really amount to 'poor judgement'.

Getting in short term older players while building a core of young talent is hardly poor judgement. Considering a number of those players were salary dumps so we could get other players, it's sound business. Also, the number of later pick players and rookies taken who were speculative picks that are either working out or havent worked out is about par for course. The last trade/draft period was all speculation because of covid. Although, Williams and Saad once our midfield ills are taken care off will be good players for us.

The churn of players after SOS was brought in was essential.

Rookie not normal? Point still stands, due that poor drafting severe lack of senior players. i.e. midfielders who could be helping Cripps.

We drafted midfielders (Kennedy, Setterfield and even Stocker) who could help Cripps. We just don’t play them as support or they follow his lead as not running both ways. SPS, Walsh, Cuningham, Dow are others that can run inside and out. I’m just sick of these excuses re: Cripps hasn’t been supported.

End of 2017, club lost Gibbs and brought in Lang and an injured Kennedy. Could have upped it's offer to Rockliff, chose not to. Cripps goes on to break a clearance record strapped up like an Egyptian mummy in a two-win side the next year - this is when he needed the support.

Walsh has already taken on a considerable load, for a youngster, has played all games and grabbed most awards, he’ll be a tremendous inside midfielder too by end next season.
As for our other part time midfielders mentioned, they are exactly that , all have deficiencies and can do intervals only in a vital position, we just ain’t got the cattle to compete and dominate.
The upcoming draft top 10 is well furnished with classy midfielders
hopefully we’ll snare one or two.

So Clarko brings out the boxing gloves during the bye week and DEMANDS players go full on. They take it so seriously Koschitzke knocks out Lewis. Then they come out breathing fire and play with aggression and intensity the entire match. Clarkson said after the match they used the bye to have a bit of a reset and do a bit of soul searching. What an incredible turnaround to the crap footy they were playing before the bye.

Two things:
1. Wouldn’t it be refreshing to see a Carlton team come out after the bye breathing fire and play with aggression and intensity the entire match.
2. Could you imagine Teague matching our two most timid players, O’Brien & Murphy, against each other and telling them to go their hardest? What a sight that would be!!

Anyway, FWIW I think Teague’s safe. The review should recommend a change-up in the personnel supporting him. In the meantime he’s got 10 games to make changes and pick the right players in the right position AND get his players playing with aggression and intensity.

Changes I’d love to see:
Stocker to the midfield
SPS played on ball in the VFL until he plays 3 great games THEN recalled as a midfielder
Doc to the hbf
Honey in

Murphy, Cas, Newnes starting in the VFL.

After watching the hawks beat the swans and crows beat the saints !! If this isn’t more proof you need 22 committed players out there to win then I’m not sure what other proof there is !!
And commitment , intensity , selfless acts , having each other back can’t be taught in a weeks bye especially with so many passengers we have in our team

but if the club are serious about the future it starts with selection next week to say , we are trying to get real

we have the worst senior players going

who is our Rory Sloane
Who is our Mundy
Who is our josh Kennedy swans
Answer no one !! And there lies our starting problem
Clean our required after watching hawks and crows ( now above us on the ladder )

Remember Dennis being interviewed by 3aw being asked who was fastest at the club - Yarren or Garrett.

answer- GPS says DennisArmfield

Wasn't fast enough to avoid a tackle in our goal square in a final vs Sydney

Armfield had straight line burst and speed chased down Dangerfield after hgiving him 5-10 meter starts a few times , Garlett was faster and could weave around - but Yarran was slik players would be thrashing arms and legs trying to catch him as he weaved through anything in front of him - - and he looked like he was going slow motion - that is super speed- the only player I've seen that fast since, was Pickett. Walker was no slouch either...Loved that group of players just loved watching them all - watched Garlett execute a perfect hip and shoulder running full speed and touched him on an angle and sent him flying meters into the air executing a block on a bloke that was chasing Eddie - no team has anything like that running power assembled - I've seen since. Just 2-3 players short of pinching a flag.
The good old days

had great speed awareness wasn’t his strong suit

Poor spatial awarenes, if it was in front of him and they had the ball, he hit them like a truck!

Tonight at 8 pm we will be having a live debate, with two (2) representatives for the motion and two (2) against.

There will be a live poll available on YouTube before and after both sides have been heard and you are invited to participate!

Rockcliff wanted a 4 year deal at 750k.
No thanks!

Watched GWS vs 22 committed North players. North almost snatched the game through every player pulling their weight.

Add Callan Ward and Cunnington to your list above as well. Don’t think we need a clean out, just need players like Stocker, Honey and (I’m hoping) Kemp to step up because they play with physicality.

Really think this has been one of the biggest issues not addressed by Teague.

He's hung onto Ed (he's done his job no doubt) and Murphy and hasn't put enough faith in the guys the club has recruited to get the job done in the middle. It can be a fine line between sending in someone who's too green vs waiting and waiting for the perfect footballer to pop up out of the ressies.

Both Ed and Murph have deficiencies too but these are ignored in the interests of experience and presumedly leadership.

I get the kennedy thing in that he's too much like Cripps to play with Cripps but Dow, Stocker, Setterfield and Cunningham (injury lay offs haven't helped) have in my opinion been asked to work too long on deficiencies in the 2nds and/or been played out of position in the seniors. So while they could have been evolving on the the job in the seniors we now find ourselves with down on confidence players playing in positions they shouldn't be ultimately equating to a perceived lack of midfield depth.

These guys are not kids (Stocker included) and he needs to stop treating them as such.

I commend Walsh on beefing up his strength to help him play middle but he can also be a very good winger (something we lack) with stints in the middle so for me, aside from tweaking game plan the two biggest fixes required are play the players in their rightful positions and start backing in the people the club has recruited to do the job they were recruited for.

Bit tough on SPS.
Think one game would do it

I like SPS...but our selection standards have to change
Yes select players who have played well and not those who haven't or make no sense.
SPS was actually playing well before he was dropped.
Others were not and have continually been selected or "dropped" to medical sub ( in which some cases they have gone on to play the entire game when there's an injury in the first quarter), making their "being dropped" a joke.

Buckley would be a huge get to support Teague on some level.
Whether that is a Neil Craig type role, or something more hands on, or something completely different.

I really rate him as a coach and a person. He would help with the culture and could certainly help us sort out our list. Fresh eyes on our midfield eg sps Dow lob etc all of which are at risk of being thrown out in a typical blues reactionary purge, could save some valuable careers.
