It’s pathetic to be honest, even if we start winning a few games, it’s a false positive, it’s on the back of older players who probably won’t be there for our next flag tilt. That article makes me really angry.

What does the club think Dow, Stocker, O’brien, Setterfield, Philp will do if they aren’t getting a game? They will leave

Or perhaps they can see what you and all of us can see.... that the vets are on their way out and they will get a game soon- if they are good enough

Dow, LOB and Setterfield have had their opportunities, if they don't take them it's on them too. Stocker must play this week based on what I saw last week, he also needs to be given a block of games like Dow was given to be able to show something. Philp is a 19yo second year player who hardly played any real competitive football at all last year thanks to Covid.

The only one i'd be worried about leaving for more opportunity would be Stocker, a couple of the others at least may be asked to leave. Either way, stake a claim for selection, take your chances when you get them. We saw what Parks was able to do.

Ok appoint Tom Hafey

That would make you happy? I'm not the one making a fuss about when coaches last coached a premiership team. It's totally irrelevant when considering the suitability of a candidate for the position that Worsfold has been appointed to. He's not there to coach the team.

Unfortunately, it's pretty hard to make these sorts of appointments mid year.
Leppitsch is the one who would make sense. Try to sort out a deal for Richmond to release him.
Leppa left Richmond after the GF, he's a free agent. Taking up a school coaching role I think.

Have yet to see one compelling, concise and well thought and articulated post as to why David Teague should not be coaching us next season (forget all the predictable media rhubarb

Sure criticize his game plan and selections by all means, of course they should be debated and discussed, doesn't mean he should be replaced when A,we have crucial injuries to some key players on our list, both in the short and long term and B, how many times have we sacked/replaces coaches in the last 20 years and where has that gotten us?

I am not sure if Teague is the long haul guy for us or not, but I also believe that the grass is not greener on the other side.

Finally it's onlu 5 games into the season, jeez Louise.

Im all for dropping those younger players you mentioned after a block of games, if they don’t perform, what really gets me is, they seem to be held to a higher standard than those older and more experienced players. LOB in particular has twice been dropped after just one game, he has limitations but I’ve never felt he’s been worse than Dow or others.

Did you see Teagues comments on Stocker today? Saying he has to prove himself as a defender before he gets a game, how about holding some of the players in the team to the same standard. Did you see the HS article posted by the old dark navy’s? It was interesting reading, pretty much showed that Teague has never dropped the older players.

He would make a good inside midfielder and brings something different to the mix. Dont know why they wont give him his chance to succeed

How you can be at a club for 11 years, he must be the best stoppages coach in the land.

I hope we pursue new assistant coaches in the off-season, I really do.

Brett Stanton for instance, why are we still bombing it in several seasons down the line?

Why do hardly any of our forwards properly lead, why do they not CRASH packs if they can't mark it and bring it down for the smalls to crumb.

How are we STILL being caught out by the bombing it in and spring off half-back and defense gets ridiculous amount of entries to defend against and Plowman etc all get blamed.

Why are we 18th for pressure, 17th for tackles, 18th for D50 to I50, ffs.

Absolutely absurd it keeps happening over and over again.

I'm just a silly campaigner in WA watching the TV and I can pick up on that, why can't the club?

Is there some grandiose plan I'm missing, so immensely frustrating to watch as a supporter.

All great points. :thumbsupv1:

And great LEARNINGS!! for the coaching group :rolleyesv1:

The problem is that our midfield setup makes it impossible to impact the game from outside of the four 'designated' midfield spots. When Dow/Setterfield - primarily clearance players - eventually had a run in the centre, it was alongside Cripps and/or Ed, neither of whom bring their teammates into the game. It's the 'Chosen Ones' all over again.

How anyone can think Worsfold is washed up based on his stint at Essendon is fairly ridiculous. The politics, distractions, divides, unavailable players etc he had to deal with. Unbelievably difficult. I've got fair respect for him. I thought they performed on field far better than they should have and attribute that largely to him.
Fair point.

Malthouse had to deal with plenty of issues too similarly to Worsfold in some ways.

The board didn't give Mick what he asked for and hindered his ability to change things up as he required. I know this for a fact.

Interesting observation

Brock Jarvis would be a good relentless coach . And the dukes ..

Point being we should be relentless

Watched a replay of his latest fight last night, he’d play AFL football without being interchanged and still wouldn’t blow out a candle....he is absolutely relentless, I think he needs a tad more power to be undisputed world champ but fk me just doesn’t allow his opponent to breathe

We should try and deal with Tiges to release him

Can the club make a deal with Chris Judd that he’d be better as a midfield coach rather than a ****ing director?

I suggest you judge me on the basis of calling the likelihood of this shitstorm a year ago rather than a convenient label of negative.
Broken clock, right twice a day etc.

No mate. Here is a copy of my Pre season prediction thread.

Carlton to finish 9th or 10th and miss out on the finals by a game and %
2) The club and half its supporter base to become aware that it needs a quick and radical re-engineering of the coaching department
3) Because the hard work on providing a competitive list is done. All the work now is above the shoulders.
4) Pre draft 2021 a debate will ensue as whether Carlton needs to keep its 1st round draft pick for a KPP or trade for Merret/Oliver. The club will go the easy fix and bring in the name recruit.
5) Dow and Obrien will play good games early but will not stand the heat in the kitchen come hard end of season games and deep down we will all know they can't be part of a finals future.
6) The president to resign at the end of the season 2021. Unfortuntely there will be a pleasant handover to someone on the board rather than the recruitment of a dynamic leader.
7) Big questions asked of Cripps pace and long term fitness by the end of the season 2021 due to the physical pressure he incurred early in his career.

Focusing on 2 of your points here... 3 isn't a prediction and it directly contradicts 4 anyway. How, if the list is done, is recruiting a big name cream on the top player the easy 'fix'? That's nonsensical.
