Gary lyon on the couch just let it slip clarko at Carlton next year
Why wouldn't clarko want the job ? He would look at our list and absolutely salivate , he got our boys playing like he had his boys in their prime and shit he could win 5-6 straight , why as a professional coach wouldn't he want that ? If we don't win at least 10 Teague is gone hate to say it .

I'm not sure he would. He didn't want to rebuild the list in a team where a culture of success has already been created and the processes are in place.
Why would he come to us, where he would need to create that culture (most likely on his own and possibly at loggerheads with senior players and/or the higher-ups), come up with a working game plan while also having to fix the list?

If that's true, I'm done
Malthouse x 2

mathieson said he'd pay only for clarko
clarko thinks, I need a pension, I have premiership.

TBH, i'd prefer sam Mitchell

Which Mathieson?

Board Member Craig (Bruce's nephew) or Bruce sitting in his ivory tower up on the GC?

Our list is stacked with talent. It doesn't need to be 'fixed', just normal year to year improvements. So he would be instilling culture and game plan on a talented list that is already in place, which is a very different prospect to a rebuild.

Taking on the senior coach role is a lot of heavily lifting. Clarko wouldn’t be walking in with a developed squad and a quality set of assistants, it sounds like we are setting up for a clean out of our coaching panel and turning over a number of senior players.

I’d rather we go after someone with senior experience who hasn’t achieved premiership success. Sounds like Leppitsch is currently being looked at, but I’d also like to see us interview Don Pyke.

Which of our forwards would you have suggested we try to get matched up on Lever instead?
Why does it need to be a forward ?
It could have been any of Setterfield, Parks, Plowman, Newman in a purely negating role to contest & get ball to ground or even Cripps as a change up mid game as a lead up option and someone to play through.

Personally I would of preferred to select and give an opportunity to Honey for this role, think he could of been a lead up option also, should of been at least made the sub.

I think Teague's done pretty well recently with getting young guys into the team and playing alright.

Cottrell has been in for a while now and seems to be improving.

Stocker has come in and was given good opportunity on the weekend playing on a good player in the midfield and I thought he went alright.

Owies has had a bit of a run at it now and is going alright.

Luke Parks has been a good selection and has been given solid opportunity.

DeKoning was impressive and given a good run last season, IMO he will be in the side pretty soon, he should be replacing Casboult this week without fail.

Honey is a player who needs to be played real soon as well and I think Teague will bring him in pretty soon. I hope so, I hope he takes this playing the young players a little further.

There are a few others people are calling to have in the team like SPS and O'Brien well I am with Teague on not playing them because they are poor performers. I've never rated SPS and it's beginning to look like a bust pick and O'Brien is much the same and it's not going to matter what position either of them play, they don't play with enough courage and physicality for AFL football and that makes them a liability.

As for our player development, that is going as well as it can be, our VFL development coaches seem to be doing well however the fixture of the competition is a fairly significant hinderance yet again.

We know we need to get the young players playing well and into the team and so far I am seeing that a bit now so there's a tick.

We know our game plan needs to evolve so we can go all out attack and score heavily but also go lock down and shut a game down. So far we haven't got the players to consistently score heavily against the really good sides and we haven't got the players or the experience to do the same with a lock down game plan but there's also significant structural issues with our lock down game but hopefully that will come.

I think we need to stick with Teague however the assistants at the club need to be tightened up, we need a better midfield coach and we need someone who has been a part of coaching a team with excellent defensive structures.
