Once again he doesn't need an extension. He is contracted to coach us next year. We have to either sack him and pay him out for next year or let him coach out his contracted period.
Correct hence there will be a parting of the ways as soon as the season concludes , with him Being paid out

the Boards obsession last 3 years was to make the club debt free , and not over spend on the coaching department ,

See anyone can say that. The actuaity is that maybe LOB might think that he should be playing more games. Everyone else of his vintage has been playing on a regular basis.

Of the newer draftees Ramsay, Kemp and Honey have had two years on the list along with Philp who is injured long term. Kemp is coming back from long term injury and should have no expectation that he should have played seniors by now. Ramsay (pick in the 40's) and Honey (rookie draft) are going along o.k. but have things to continue working on - for example Honey averages about 10 possessions a game and drifts in and out of games.

Carroll, Parks and Durdin are first year players Parks has had s few runs but needs to do more work on plenty of aspects of his game. Carroll and durdin haven't seriously been mentioned as being close yet although of them all I think that Carroll might end up being the best player if the lot.

If you agree with this and from all accounts Kemp is going to sign a two year extension then only LOB, Honey and Ramsay potentially fall into the group that you are definitely saying are going to leave at the end of the year. I would think that it might be footballing suicide for Honey and Ramsay as there would be just as much chance that no one took them. Maybe LOB might find a new home.

So as you are asserting that the whispers are accurate let us know who is leaving.

Not stating an opinion - and you've done a pretty good job of narrowing it down.

You're overlooking other players, it's not only LOB who might have concerns about not playing.
Dow for example. He's only been getting a real go the last 4 or 5 weeks. Had a great pre-season, then got stranded in the forwardline. Got dropped, but made sub. Earned his way back, started like a house on fire, got injured. Got dropped, for weeks.
Samo. Wasting away in the backline. Finally gets moved up the field, does ok, gets dropped. Comes on as sub, plays really well, gets dropped.
Took 6 weeks for Cunners to get a run.
Setterfield played totally out of position, form drops.
Could include Kennedy.
And Ramsay. Really good form in the 2s. Travelling emergency, doesn't play. Goes back to the 2s, stars. Doesn't get picked.
As for Honey, word is he's been told a few times that he's going to be picked, only to be left out.

It's naive to think that our only issue with the younger players is LOB. That's not to say that there'll be walk-outs, only that there might be some concerns.

You don't understand how it works I think. Not only would you have to pay him out for 2022 but you you would more than likely have to pay the afl the same amount for going over the soft cap. So it probably costs the club $1 mill all up.

We'll see how it plays out but there is one thing that I am very sure of - you are guessing and have as much as I do about what will actually happen (I.e. nothing)

So you are claiming that you are stating a fact?

Why would honey and or Ramsay quit so that they can play suburban footy?
No chance really that they’d quit. However, if another club came in with an offer. That being said, I don’t want to lose either of them. Honey would be up for Gibbons spot on the list I reckon. And Ramsey is going to be very good.

Not true, only 6 month payout.

" St Kilda's Brett Ratten, Carlton's David Teague and Gold Coast's Stuart Dew all have six-month payout clauses or less in their new coaching deals "

A post which he left to explore other opportunities. Highly unlikely he steps straight back into a senior coaching gig.

No response to the rest of the post? Or are we only interested in hanging sh*t on the coach without context?

your happy with Teague and that’s ok … there have been a lot of ordinary performances this year highlighted by the v Eagles that led to the review …. But one game does not lead to a review it is a collective …. Within this thread there is a list of run ons …. It is not pretty reading …

yes it has been better since the review announcement and by coincidence since Barker left and Docherty and Murphy have been not playing …. To give context those 2x players were highlighted most by commentators as not defending ….

You also thought Bolton should have been retained … so in many ways your loyal person who follows without question… & probably also think Dan Andrews is doing a good job !!

Just something I've heard from someone close to a recent draftee - make of it what you will. These guys aren't looking at suburban footy, they're looking at their mates enjoying themselves at other Melbourne clubs.

Dow is contracted for 2022 and looks extremely happy at the moment. Seems to get on very well with Teague.

SPS has often been quoted as being very happy at Carlton and in Melbourne. The club will have to decide whether to re contract or potentially use as part of a trade.

Cuners is contracted and appears happy at the club.

Matt Kennedy was dropped off the senior list at the end of last year and could have been taken by any club. Looks as though he has played himself into a new senior list contract. Loved seeing him take off Sam Walsh's goal celebration after the game with Sam after the game last week. There was a discussion that he was a country boy who missed being at home but Looks settled and happy.

That leaves Honey and Ramsay. I have watched them a fair bit and have knowledge of them as footballers but not their character. If they are prepared to risk their football careers because they are upset at not getting games as 2nd year players then maybe they are not the type of individuals to take our club forward. I sincerely doubt that is the case.

This time last year we had people on here certain that Jack was leaving.

Well see how it washes out.

Pretty piss poor post this one.

You really should go away and aim to be better.

I didn't think that David teague was on $500k per year. Probably fair enough that he's not on a million but somewhere in between.

Not just Doc and Murphy, also Levi, Pitto, Gibbo.
There's been quite a change to the 22.

It's not just about players walking out, but about the harmony of the group.
There are some concerns there. They might all get resolved (hopefully).
That's why (at least one of the reasons) we're having an external review.

So they are not enjoying themselves enough?
As afl footballers earning more than the average 40 year old with the chance to earn a hell of a lot more.
Not sure that's what their priorities should be.
So your basically saying that a close friend of either Ramsay or Honey has told you that they are not happy at Carlton because they are not enjoying themselves enough and are thinking of leaving?
Wow..

haha he will never get another senior coach again , prepare yourself my friend he ain’t surviving beyond this season

it is unfortunate the way he was appointed with no due diligence and then after given the role , wasn’t supported properly , but that’s too late now unfortunately and there is no way the club will give him a 3 year extension at the end of this year and there is no way , they will let him coach next year with only one year to go

When people talk so definitively and so dismissively as though they are in the know, I like to take a look at the credibility they invest into their work. Not track record as a new poster doesn't have one, but things that absolutely could not be known unless they had an inside line.

In terms of Teague getting the chop, I think we can safely say that results plus available coaches plus review has Teague in a precarious position. Predicting his demise is simply playing the odds. New posters can do this with ease as they haven't formed a reputation they may like to protect on the board.

As to what the board think, or the review participants think, players think etc, none of that is going to be revealed. A poster could claim absolutely anything in that regard with no risk of being proven wrong, so no credibility has been invested. See what I mean.

Posters with inside info come here all the time. Some happens, some doesn't. The best ones drop the info and leave people to absorb it. They don't hang around to quash any thoughts or feelings to the contrary. That's simply self serving and attention seeking.

It would be nice if posters could be a little more circumspect and a little less braggadocious. We'd all get along well if that were the case.

Wow..

Imagine you're frustrated at your workplace, not getting reward for effort and consistently overlooked for members of an established in-group irrespective of performance.

Now imagine a number of your mates work for a competitor, where (as far as you know) someone in your position is made to feel included, is rewarded for effort and has better prospects for career progression.

That's what I'm saying.

Thought for the day -did we change what we were doing or just start doing more of what were are supposed to be doing all season?

Footy shows will analyse the games and say we have reduced the amount we are allowing teams to score over the last 4 weeks to around 60 points. This what we previously allowed teams to score when we won earlier in the season (aside for the * game which was a shoot out and we scored significantly more than we have all season)

I notice more where players are picking up an opposition player when we don't have the ball and instructing teammates to take another runner whilst they are on also on the run. I see a heap more buy-in as far as this goes. Do the players suddenly get it, or did they get it before but didn't have the intensity or buy-in to perform it, or did we tweak something to make it easier?

Our stoppage setup has changed drastically, where we set up, the commitment to slowing exits down, less ed curnow hack kicks and then the way we move from there has changed too. Happier to lose a stoppage and turn the kick over and rebound. Which suits the personnel we have. We've suddenly become a really good rebounding team. Which seems right, considering the half backs we have.
