hmmm. but he's marketable. wonder what sponsors will say if he's dropped.

also, test captain reckons dw = captaincy material.
well the test captain before the current one had his own problems with the drink at one stage in his career...The short term captaincy hopes are in tatters but if Warner's still in the team in 3-4 years time and not doing stuff like this he'll likely be in the frame for captaincy, particularly given Steve Smith is currently the the best under 28yo captaincy prospect...........

Ok, so imagine your name is David Warner and suppose you have leadership ambitions.

You know that the captain is out of the Champions Trophy through injury and the stand-in isn't thought of highly enough as a Shield player to command a spot in the Ashes squad as a batsman.

Would you not say to yourself, particularly after a) being virtually run-less on tour and b) having recently been fined for misconduct, "self, this could be my chance to knuckle down and respect the game and those around me, whilst helping my team to win a major ODI tournament and the coveted Ashes series".

Suppose, however, you have your head so far up your arse that you are not only dropped from a must-win game, but that you find yourself subject to ANOTHER investigation, which may lead to you being axed from the squad.

Never mind though, "Davey" - The IPL is less than a year away.

Twitter saying he punched an English player in the face, as far as disgraceful indiscretions go it could be worse if true.

Isn't it Root

That's right, punch the young kid, not the other far more punchable ones in their team
Exactly. Shows why Warner isn't captaincy material.

He can't even belt the correct English player.

:)
