I hate to criticise and if the result was reversed we would all be celebrating. But what on earth were they thinking with the doubles?
Not only did Rafter have injury concerns but so did Hewitt.
Hewitt is not a double's player.
We have the number one doubles player in the world and they don't play him!
Arthurs is no slouch on the doubles court.
Two good singles players do not make a great doubles combination.
Anyway on to today, I was lucky enough to be there and it was great to be there. Hewitt played great and Arturs tried his guts out. His first serve did not go in enough times and the rest of his game is not up to the standard of the world's best.
We were beaten by a better side. But it was great tennis. If we are to pinpoint where we lost it, Hewitt should have won that first rubber.
It maybe good in another respect, it may urge Rafter to keep playing.
