This goes along with the general consensus that Annable will probably not be bid on in the top 5. Uwland and Patterson will be super stars so bids in the top 3 are very likely.
Annable looks more Sam Marshall than Will Ashcroft, good but not great, Will went 2 Marshall 18? I think? I think he might go around 8-15 in the draft, at least that's my rating of him.

Patterson looks a star, Uwland looked good at u16s and his underage year

All relative to the draft class though. Reckon Marshall would push closer to 10 than 18 in this one.

Annable is the better midfielder than Marshall has been in the best players all year at under 18s in all competitions including VFL the ranking of him is definitely top 5 but each he’s own

Marshall won the best on ground in Talent League Grand Final in his draft year though - which had a much higher draft class running around him. His kicking, tank, outside run are different set of skillset compared to Annable's inside grunt, spread and handball in traffic.

I'd rate Marshall slightly ahead of Annable as an overall package, purely due to Annable's disposal could be a bit iffy. It's improved greatly this year but Marshall would still be ahead in my view.

I’m still surprised Patterson wants to go to Gold Coast. If I was him I’d very much be wanting to go to Eagles or Richmond. Gold Coast don’t have the salary cap or game opportunities for him . Feels like he is throwing 1 mill plus down the toilet to stay next to mummy.

It’s a weak move

He's a Lions supporter growing up apparently - his dad is a mad Lions fan.

May be it's easier to drive down the road to us few years later - we can only dream :D

Would be happy with that. Marshall has shown the potential to be an A grader IMO. To come straight into a star studded premiership team as a rookie and excel, is pretty impressive.

Haha, you cracked me up. Like players want to go to bottom teams and spend 5+ years there.

Wing is there for taking. If he makes it Suns will pay him. Some Suns players do leave as you noticed.

Lol, because all the superstars in the AFL play a wing. Just proves my point really. At Eagles he can play a crucial role and at Gold Coast he so just a side piece

Yeah, keep dreaming. Plenty of players could play crucial roles at Eagles. Holes everywhere.

Patterson is not superstar. He played zero AFL games. Patterson can play HB, wing, forward. My guess, he will end up probably HB. Maybe midfield, who knows.

As with the most draftees it will probably take a bit of time for him to develop and adjust. He is not a game changer in his first year. For sure he can develop and learn alongside Rioli, Rowell, Anderson, the list goes on. It took Rowell and Anderson 6 years to finally reach their potential.

I know where I would prefer to be drafted. Both Uwland and Patterson will likely play AFL in their first year.

If we are to think that it takes him 3 years to become a player that is ready to move the 2 running HB players in Rioli and Noble then its fine as both will be 32 years old and nearly done

Levi has started his career at the Lions mostly playing wing because of how stacked our mid field is - but will eventually play his preferred position of mid when Neale retires. Something similar for Patterson I would imagine.

I'm not sure Patterson has the game to play inside, or to develop as an inside player.

Is that $1m a year, or $1m over the life of his AFL career? Pre tax or post tax?

The Ashcroft boys are throwing away millions by re-signing with Brisbane.

Martin threw away millions re-signing with Richmond.

Some times money isn't such a motivating factor, when you're going to earn a shed load over the life of your career anyway.

I don't know if you're heard about this, but players can move clubs after their draft year. I think they call it trading.

His options:

a) Stay at/near home for 2-3 years, hone your skills, then if you're not happy, move when you're more mature and you know what's on offer.

Or

B) Move to Perth/Melbourne for 2-3 years, hone your skills, then if you're not happy move AGAIN.

Option A seems like a much simpler, better option.

How is he honing his skills playing on a wing.... if he is lucky. He wont be honing his skills at all... thats the primary issue. Just put into a random spot he wont excel at so he can stay at home

If he wants to test himself as a midfielder then WCE/Richmond is the place for him to be. At Gold Coast he will be a flanker at best. Infact one of your own posters seems to think he should play half back for his career. This is really because between Rowell/Anderson/Miller/Petracca/Uwland/Humphrey the midfield minutes just dont exist.

Ashcrofts will still be in your top 5 paid players yeah? The perpetual lie is that Brisbanes salary cap is full.... last offseason proved it isnt. They are able to adequately compensate the Ashcrofts for sure

Is Dylan Patterson going to be? The salary cap is already full at Gold Coast. You got Anderson/Rowell/Petracca/King/Andrew on that 1 mill+ . Humphrey/Uwland/Walter/Read if they project the way they are going will be near that level too. No teams having 10 1 mill+ players on the books here

Martin didnt throw away playing in the midfield in the AFL + millions though. Its a partial factor but not the deciding one. The main one id not go to Gold Coast if I was Paterson is because he wont be able to play in the midfield with the same opportunities he will get elsewhere. He can either sit on a flank at Gold Coast in 2026 or go into the midfield and test himself. Thats the decision to be made ultimately

Davo-27 Where do you view the range that Cameron Nairn ends up being drafted at, and where would you rank him personally?

Interesting prospect, but could he potentially slide due to his height?

Or could clubs be keen knowing he has versatility and could even be a wing option as opposed to a genuine third tall forward?

He's easily the best player in the draft, he can do as he pleases really.

If he were available and we had traded out the pick that could have got him, I'd be heading to the Westgate.

Just gonna spit ball a few notes as I read that if you wish to elaborate on I’d love to pick your brain as to their position relative to the general consensus.

Duursma not 1, Sharp
Lindsay high with only kicking
Schubert top 5 shorter at combine
Greeves 10 no defensive game
Carmichael high
XT Cumming Dov late teens????
Coulson high, vanilla no afl level traits
Onley 25? Too raw no defensive game
Farrow super low? Maybe mid concerns
Sweid high afl position?
Wes Walley 35 terrible season may not even get cat B at eagles
Phillipou O Taylor super low athleticism merchants?
Love Blake Kelly in there.

I will elaborate on these later but just quick notes

Interesting that you have Banfield, Evans and Walley rated ahead Taylah Williams.
Some pundits have Taylah Williams as the 2nd best player out of WA behind Farrow.
