When does it kick off?

I love it, get home, can go for a kick of the footy before it gets dark!

Best time of the year!

Ya lucky bastards.

We here in Qld have to endure early starts - getting light from 4:30am, dark by 7pm.

I keep getting told by the locals I should get up early and "enjoy" the cool of the morning! Yeah, but what can I do to "enjoy" it. Mow the lawns/wash the car?? Noise restrictions. Early hit off at golf - restrictions on hit off time. Lie in bed with pillow over head trying to keep light/noise of wildlife out - yeah, thats it.

Try debating this with a local. The standard answer is "but why should I get up earlier?" response. Can't understand that if the clock says 6am, then thats the time, not that it's "really 5am". Can understand some opposition way out west, but not in SEQld.

Enjoy your summer. We'll be up at 5am, dinner by 6pm, bed by 8:30pm - ahh, summer Qld style!!

I love daylight saving - you can go home and it is still light, you can kick the footy around, have a swim in your pool or go to the beach.

I bet the amount of nights you come home and just stay inside far outweighs the times you go out and use daylight savings. Its a crock.

Agreed. Hate daylight savings over here. Looking out the window at 8pm and is only just getting into twilight. Was absolutley horrid when doing shift work starting at 4am.

Couldn't agree more. WA, NT & Qld have very hot summers and don't need daylight saving; I love keeping fit, and enjoy running and cycling in the cool of the morning. After work, it is stinking hot and you just don't feel as enthusiastic.
And it is bull to suggest that unfit people will exercise more if there is daylight saving; they will be as fat and out of shape as before.

Dumbest idea ever!

What's the point of it? The only difference between the time the sun rises and sets is only 30 minutes or so over the year anyway. Why bother moving your clock around? It's just a pain in the arse you don't need.

No point to it.

Been trialed here 3 times already. Been deemed a waste of time each time.

Maybe in the cold, polluted sh!thole where you live.

Wrong again. I live in Qld, neither cold nor polluted. In winter the sun rises at about 7 and sets at around 5.30. In Summer it rises at 5 and sets at 6.30. Go to the BOM website, check the sunrise/sunset times and begin your education.

Sunshine is a waste in the morning - who cares when you are getting ready for work and sitting on a bus.

Better to have more light at night. I would go to teh beach at least 3 times a week afer work during DS.

I disagree with the majority of ya's. I love getting home from work and being able to have BBQ's outside and still in the light of the day. Take the dog for a walk, kick of the footy with mates.

Used to love it as a kid, come home from school, go down to the cricket nets with my brother and we'd play cricket from about 4.30 until 8.30, it would get dark about 9. Love it

Same now I have kids of my own - great to take them to the beach or play cricket after work.

Again, whats the point of sunshine in the morning ?

No idea mate, it'll be great to go to the beach on the weekend and be able to stay there until 7-8.

I have a little brother back in Bendigo who is only 9, when i go back we play cricket and soccer until all hours of the night.

Brisbane = cold + polluted.

Where did I say I lived in Brisbane? Illiterate as well hey? Youve got it all going for you I see. The only place in this country where the difference over the course of the year would be 30min would be in the very north of the country where a grand total of 50 000 people would live. As I said, look at that website and educate yourself.

And infact even up north its more than 30min. In Cooktown which is about as far north as you can go, the earliest sunrise this year is at 5.38am and the latest is at 6.47am so when youre ready, feel free to admit that you havnt got the faintest clue what youre talking about.

I love daylight saving gives me time to do stuff in the evening, when normally I cannot becaue it is dark. Only down side to it is working as a baker with starts ranging from 1am - 4am...and I refuse to go to bed before it is dark. Looks like I could be getting a few 3 hour nights come the height of summer..

Any sane person wouldnt be up before 6am anyway, whats the point of having daylight then? Move the clocks foward is the beast thing the government does each year. Should be permanently an hour foward. :thumbsu:

I am a fan of daylight saving. Much better having an extra hour of light at night rather than having light start at 4:30 or whenever and having chirping birds disturb me.

The people who are against daylight saving either have the lifestyle of a really old fart, the types who go to bed at 9:00pm and like to "have a run" at 5:00am, and (in WA at least) those who object to it because of the "Eastern states" did it first.

I suggest buying some curtains :p

They're extending daylight savings. Not a good idea - having the extra hour of sunlight for even longer will make the curtains fade and the apples on the trees rot.

But with daylight savings wont my curtains fade quicker because their exposed to an extra hour of sunlight?  :D ;) Haha...
I have curtains but I still get streams of light in through the edges.

As for the chirping birds, I never normally realise how loud they are because I am at work at that hour, but blow me dead, got home at 6am this morning from a night out, and are the a pain in the arse when trying to sleep or what??? Or would that be the 4 no-doz tablets I had (by that time I had been up for 30 something hours...)... Also made me realise, how late do we start daylight savings?? You can see signs of the sun coming up from like 4.45am at the moment, and there is still 3 weeks until DS starts! :thumbsd:
