Probably this

Or his father may pass away in a few weeks and he decides he stays with the Pies after all and they miss out.

I'm not sure why that would elicit that response.

It's a discussion on Beams and the trade. He suggested that Beams could move next year anyway. My response is that if his father passes away soon (which I obviously hope he doesn't and in no way do I believe my post lacked compassion) then the motivation for Beams to move may disappear.

It appears it's an issue on family rather than Pies/football. If Brisbane don't make an adequate trade to satisfy the Pies and he remains with them, then he may not just 'leave next year anyway' if his father unfortunately passes away. He may then decide that staying with all his mates is his best course at that point in time.

Their should be an option for pick 4 and a quality player.

Pick 4 and Mayes(who had a worse season than his first).

Beams is a superstar coming into his prime, draft picks in the top 10 have about a 50% chance of being long term players and probably about a 10% - 15% chance of becoming a player like Beams. And the good money says that while Mayes should become a good player he most likely won't overtake Beams. So I don't think it's unrealistic at all.

Agree. There probably should be an option for pick 4 and a quality player. Even though our CEO or GM ruled it out.

Mayes didn't really have a bad year imo. Played really well when given the chance to play on the wing/HF but he was spent most of his time learning down back this year. Was a developmental year in which I though he performed well enough given the circumstances.

What Beams is worth and what you will get is completely different though. We learnt that the hard way with 5 young players last year.

none of these options are suitable. But unfortunately we will have to settle for one of them...

Pick 4 + Pick 24 or Pick 4 + young player should be enough but Collingwood are being quite stubborn

Chris Judd was traded to Carlton for Pick 3, Pick 20 and Josh Kennedy.

Beams is elite yes. But is no Chris Judd. Pick 4 and 24 should be suffice.
Chris Judd was also out of contract and could have went into the PSD, Beams isn't and cannot go into the PSD.

Pick 4 plus a very good player. A pick is a gamble even at that high selection.

For me Brisbane would be getting a fair deal if it was pick 4 plus Pearce Hanley as has been suggested.

Sure Hanley looks to be an excellent player but Beams is a whole different level.

If you want quality in your club Brisbane, then be prepared to part with some.
Wow your way off hanley gets crowley when we play brisbane pick 5 and there 3rd rounder and thats agood deal

Pick 4 + Hanley/Rockliff is absurd. Rockliff is as good if not better than Beams and Hanley isn't that far off.

Pies fans, he wants to leave. That means you won't get what his worth. I think pick 4 and a solid (but not exceptional) young player is fair

Beams is so far superior to Hanley it isn't even funny. And that's not even a slight on Hanley.

Gun goal kicking mid > free running half back.

Hanley hasnt played consistently across half back for 2-3 years, and spent the entire past season in the midfield. Shows how much you watch him play.

Yawn. We'll see how your view changes when he actually plays for you.

Blinded one eyed idiocy might change.

My opinion on who? Beams? Hanley?

You don't even know what you are saying now.

4 & 24 should be ok. Seems a fair few players want to make moves so the Pies should be able to get a decent mature player
