now before you jump down my throat...

i understand he is a long-shot, as ruckmen don't often get recognised especially these days and West Coast aren't having the best season, BUT
his dominance over the other ruckmen in the competition cannot go unnoticed all year and surely if he keeps up these numbers his current odds of $51 and $13.85 for the place look pretty juicy. cox did notch up 12 votes in 06, and with no Judd to take the votes off him (and kerr has missed a chunk of matches too), i think it could be interesting and i am almost tempted to have a punt on him.

what are your thoughts??

West Coast won't win enough games for him to win a Brownlow, you might argue that you can still be a good player in a shit team but your team must win it's fair share of games too. At the moment West Coast are a rabble and will struggle to get any votes in the Brownlow, making a thread suggesting Cox is a chance is crazy... actually putting money on him should see you institutionalised. ;)

Newbie in more then one regard.

seeing most have disregarded my first post. what players in the forums opinion look good as a smokey?

cross could be interesting too in a winning team, he is always under the umpires noses and racks them up. Cooney may take off a few in the early rounds.

He's playing well enough, but they're not winning games so I don't give him much chance.

Maybe Travis Johnstone as a smokey.

Three players at good odds that i dont mind are Brett Burton at $35, Kane Cornes at $61 and Simon Goodwin at $101

stick with it mate....I agree he is a good each way bet at those odds.......probably has 6 to 9 votes now......and there is still 13 rounds to go!
Get the odds while they are on offer.....the coasters form could turn around quickly and he could well be right among the votes!:thumbsu:

Stats to Date:
Rd1 29disp 6m 21ho 3 votes.....clearly best in win agst Lions
Rd2 25disp 8m 35ho 1/2 votes.....easily Eagles best, but well beaten
Rd3 22disp 7m 10ho
Rd4 13disp 5m 31ho
Rd5 19disp 4m 23ho
Rd6 20disp 6m 21ho
Rd7 25disp 3m 36ho 1/2 votes.....back to best agst Blues....Eagles challenged hard late
Rd8 24disp 5m 31ho 1/2 votes.....almost got the eagles over the line agst North
Rd9 12disp 4m 19ho

Anywhere between six to nine votes for mine.
His stats for a ruckman are like a midfielder and are on par with season 2006 when he got 12 votes.....but without Judd, Kerr, Cousins taking the bigger share of votes.

Rounds three to six remember were when he was carrying his foot injury, but even then stats are not to bad.

Great each way value bet!

Like Goodwin at those odds as well, but he doesn't traditionally poll well.
Cornes would need a good second half of the year.
Also agree with the OP that Cox is good EW value - extremely unlikely to win, but he is so far above the rest of the ruckman he will always be a chance of minor votes despite WC not winning much. He needs the Eagles to be at least competitive though, and if they start winning some more games he'll be right amongst it.
