one of my favourite players even when his not a bomber. hope he continues to go well with the dockers. i would like to know what you guys think of him

I reckon he's been a very handy pick up for us. Laid 12 tackles on the weekend, kicked a goal. Couldn't ask for much else I reckon. Looks happy to be at Freo and adds hardness to the contest. Him being there probably helps Taz settle in as well. They've both proven to be pretty handy.

Yeah, I like him.

I am warming to him very quickly. 12 tackles on the weekend  !!! Applies great defensive pressure in the forward, and has kicked a few goals (missed a few too unfortunately but you get that).

There is a thread further down the board about Solomon. "Solomon influence rising" I think. In it he gets some big pats on the back from most Freo supporters.

Kudos to the club for targetting him in trade week. Half the "footy experts" on Bigfooty suggested at the time the he past it.

Yeah, I wasn't a fan of the trade, but truth be told, I didn't really know who Solomon was. I'd just heard he was a hack and past it.

Has more pace than I expected of him as well, seen him chase down a number of players I thought would have been faster.

I was probaly one of those who was totally against drafting him.

My views for that was i lived in melb for the last 5 years and having some bombers mates went to a few games over that period. They use to rave about this guy.. I thought he was totally overated and his last 2 years even bombers fans admit he was terrible. In the top 5% for free`s against and clangers.

But in saying all of the above, I have written on these boards I hope he proves me wrong .

And after the Adel game, in the Freo BF player of the year I voted this way ...

5: Mundy
4: McPharlin
3: Solomon (yep giving him votes ;) )
2: Webster
1: Sandilands.

Sorry to Dodd, could`nt fit him in, but was very good today.

Agreed.

He is similar to Cookie in that way. They don't seem that quick most of the time, but when a player has the ball they seem to become exhilarated by the possibility of inflicting pain and accelerate to increase the carnage.

I find it a very endearing trait. :)

massive massive fan of solly, he trains hard and plays even harder, the players walk taller with him around. he is so hard, and skillful even though his goalkicking has been average. reckon he is such an important player to freo allready. absolutely fantastic, and a massive pickup for freo. very very happy

This is what I dont agree with respect Footyeater....

This is a myth....and something the master deflector Sheedy use to portray...

Did`nt stop the first year player Dale Thomas last season tearing Solomon a new one during the Anzac game...

Lets not get caught up in that line of thinking...Much tougher players around than him......

But i will say again, I hope he does have a good season ...:o

I for one was quite happy happy when the club traded for him. I even remarked to one of my friends that he could end up being more influential than Taz. I just saw him as that missing piece, ala Hardwick for Port, just to add that touch of toughness for a tilt at the flag.

I may or may not have overrated him, but I've been very impressed so far. Seems very committed to the cause and quick to throw himself in for shepherds and other one percenters which is sometimes lacking from some of our other players. And his tackling and hardness at the man is 1st rate.

Very good pick up by the club considering how cheaply we got him.

Absolutely. Well put. What he said :)

i didnt want him. i thought we would use him in the backline where he has played most of his career. he was terrible last year. watching him this year its like a whole different player

Two years ago Essendon wouldn't accept just a first round pick for him.

He's healthy, lost some bulk and is looking pretty good IMO.

He's tough at the ball, love seeing him tackle.

He's also hilarious!
