Before you go knocking the VFL and acting like this competition only started 14 years ago, consider this:
The league that had the highest attendances in the world per capita? Thats right, a suburban competition that produced crowds of 125 thousand to a grand final and 80-100 thousand to home and away games regularly. Per capita, not soccer, not gridiron, nor baseball could match us, let alone get near us, you are priveledged to be in a competition that owes its existence to that "suburban league" you benefit by the blood and sweat of the giants that have come before you so show a little respect, after all, it was'nt your state that accomplished this magnificent competition.

I have to wait for a 2 hour delay to watch the saints, and the money that tv rights has grown is because of Interstate sides. Brisbane deserve a home final.

Thats crap, ur just making ******** up now. 125 000 for a GF, thats one game for the year and the SANFL GF crowds of the same era easily match that of the VFL GF's per capita. 70 000 people regulary attended SANFL GF's and the crowds in the SANFL definately matched those of the VFL per capita. I think it is a testament to the SANFL that it is still a viable comp which still attracts crowds, unlike your VFL garbage. Anyway Port Adelaide are a giant of Australian football and u have to admit in terms of success are bigger than any club in Australia.
 
Oh the sad little South Aussie, if anything you said was true we would have joined your competition instead of the other way around :D
 
Have fun watching a Port v Brisbane grand final mate. Sure we will put a better fight than those pathetic pies did last year. What a disgrace they were.
 
Actually that will be fun, of course unless you actually think you have a chance against the concession boys :D

EXACTLY....national being the key word here..

yes there WAS a main VFL comp, but since the 'interstate' teams were added, its actually changed its name to AFL...so therefore, the vfl isnt really relevant to the afl anymore, cos now its just like the sanfl here in sa or the wafl or whatever in other states.

and im not meaning to start a whole arguement here, but whenever port people bring up out 34 premierships in the sanfl, all other supporters say 'yeah, but thats different blah blah'...well if u dont include that, why should the old vfl sides like collingwood and essendon be included to have won 16 or whatever cups, when its not the same thing?

as far as im concerned, the afl started 14 years ago, and before then, it was just the crappy vfl...IMO

thats what im trying to say.... i believe that the count should have been erased when the afl was made..and therefore collingwood would have however many cups in the afl, and however many vfl cups..

why are there cups included before the afl was introduced?? its not the same comp....is it???
 
You'll just have to face the fact that the VFL was premier competition in Australia and all that has really changed is the name and a few mandatory interstate clubs, thats why we have 14 AFL premierships, if you dont like it take it up with the AFL or try to win as many as we have..... I give you 2 chances..... Nathan's and none! :D

OMG Get over it you Losers...Im soooo sick of reading posts from pathetic jealous supporters..
We earned the right to a home final, it isnt our fault the AFL didnt think that the interstate sides would ever be good enough...So if we want to whinge about it we can. Im happy to play on it, fact is..we have won the past 3 GF's on it so I dont think it holds a scary thought in any of our players heads.
And to actually say we are privaliged to be playing in this league?? You should be thanking the likes of the Brisbane Lions who have shown everyone how it should be done.
Bring on that Lions Vs Port GF...I would kill to be in Victoria that Grand Final week.
And just for the record, without all the talent of these interstate teams the AFL would be stuffed, and be in NOWHERE near the position it is today.

How do you view the Geelong vs Essendon match panning out? What are the key match-ups and what tactics do you expect both coaches to use not only early but through-out the game?
