Just thought I'd let everyone know that a new 'Ask Woosha' has been put on the official site. Read it here:

Ask Woosha

I thought that this statement was very interesting:

"When teams lose confidence it often looks as though they have lost their hunger, but in many instances they have lost faith in themselves and their teammates. I think that might have been the case last season."

I was one person who constantly questioned the players hunger last year. Perhaps like Woosha says, the players simply weren't confident enough.
Ken Judge never seemed like the sort of person who would make the players feel good about themselves.

Also his comments about Full Forward were interesting.

I think that that one year he spent in the media taught him how to avoid questions. Some of his replies ran the reader round in circles without answering the question. I hope he's a bit more media friendly than KJ was, i really don't want to hear the same excuses as we've been hearing for the past 2 seasons.

Can't wait for the season to start, I want to read something footy related!

I don't know about that - I thought Woosha's replies were pretty direct and frank, but didn't go in to unnecessary bagging of people - for example his point about there were reasons for Scotty's departure but there was no mileage in going over that again. Interesting that he named Adam Hunter first after Troy Wilson in terms of having a go at FF.

I thought Woosha's replies were great. I feel so much closer to the club with that one page than at any time under KJ.
I also think the FF issue brings new light. Scotty was ageing and so is BB so with both of them in the squad how could we possible develop a new, young FF. We faced that dilemma with Buz making a 3rd FF and how would it be if his ankle went again and we just had Scotty and BB? Woosha is opening up another dimension, developing a Lloyd type FF who is multidimensional and versatile. Hunter, Haynes, Gaspar, they all have huge ability and could make it.

I always thought Haynes could pinch hit at Full Forward.

He's as tall as Willow, solidly built, quick and can take a very strong mark.

I think Woosh will rotate guys like Haynes, Embers, Gaspar, Gardiner, Willow, Siera or even Peter Matera through the key forward positions, until he finds the right mix.

Ive actually always been impressed with Williams and thought he could possibly hold down FF

Reason being he has a good pair of hands and is well built to not get beaten in contests too easily

i hope he gets the chance to play in that position this season

I heard on the radio today that Woosha wants the club to become more family orientated by getting more supporters along to the training sessions and open days the club will be having. Also the closed training sessions will be scrapped.

What do you think of these ideas?

I think its a good idea that Woosha would like to get the supporters more involved with the club ie: open training sessions etc.

However, theres no reason why they shouldnt have closed sessions. Maybe they wanna try some tactics out or some position changes at training, i dont think the opposition should know about it.... not forgetting that all clubs have their spys nowadays

Yeah, he's definitely another option. Can take a strong mark and kick a good goal.

I picked up a copy of the Slimes on the way home tonight, and inside was an article about Andrew Embly (mmmm footy article).

Interestingly in both of the previous pre-seasons he has suffered a serious injury set-back. In 2000 he punctured a lung in Round1, and in 2001 he injured his shoulder in a practice match.

I've always been a bit of an Andrew Embly fan, and I just get this feeling that with a uninterrupted pre-season and with a coach like Woosh at the helm, he might be set for a big year.

When he's playing well, Embly is fantastic. He's hard, tough, mobile and can take a good mark. A consistent season from him would help our hlf frwd line immensely.

The optimism is starting to build. There'll be no stopping me now. :)

Im really warming to Woosha as coach! Regarding the FF position i think it is a real good idea, i was all for keeping Scotty but now that he is gone and i cant do anything about it then im with Whoosha...lets try some kids at FF, namely Haynes and Williams.

Ive always liked Williams and probably has the strongest pair of hands in our squad, every Eagles fan is a Haynes fan and we all expect big things from him this season. Its all starting to build now as we get closer!!
