Decision making cost us today.

We have to be the worst in the AFL with decisions under pressure.
Dumb options when it counts.

And as for the Umpires...well I reckon both sides were confused with the disgraceful umpiring.
Richmond probably had about 10 frees that wern't paid that were crucial. To get a holding the ball today the player had to hang onto it for 5 minutes.

One week they're red hot and the next they put the whistle away.
Geish! You are a Fat bumbling Joke!

we're a young a very inexperienced side, we'll be making stupid errors for a while yet! It was a high pressure game, i dont mind making errors against sides like the swans, its the errors against naff sides like carlton that piss me off.

and yep the umpiring was fu.(king attrocious

Pettifer and Schultz were alright today - but it's players like these that needed to stand up in the last 10 minutes. They went missing.

Our disposal was really poor in the last ten minutes as well. I think its just a case that we dont have enough players that are fit enough to run out games. You get physically tired and your decision making is always affected, not to mention ur disposal gets worse.

Was very dissapointed by Lids is last quarter. He was brilliant in the thrid and changed the game around, but fell away in the last quarter when we need him. Its proabably a fitness thing!

Mcguane and moore look like being very good in the back half for us.

Tambling and Schulz were good with out being great, kicked a couple of goals each. Was really hoping for Blinga to step up after the second goal and take the game on! Wasnt to be

Wasnt just our disposal it was our very own decision making a few times we had the ball on a wing and would just lob it up for the swans easy pickings, seemed like our players were rushed into it when they had a bit more time to think about it.

I thought our guys were supposed to be super fit? :thumbsd:

Looking at guys like Deledio, Tambling, Polo, McGuane, Patto, Foley and Howat are guys who have only had 3 preseasons, so you cannot expect them to be right at the fitness that they need to be for AFL football. It'll be one or two more preseason before they reach that point. It just means that other guys have to cover for them making our senior players tired.

Its just unfortunate. just have to be patient.

If you look at the last 2 years and the first 2 games of this season, we have failed to run out final quarters. I agree there is a decision making element there but is there a fitness element involved in failing to win final quarters? Our success rate in final quarters is well under 50% in the last 2 years. Why?

umpires were shocking. almost enough to want to give the game away. i mean really, what a joke. swans player gets his arm chopped lightly and a free kick payed and goal. richo gets his arm chopped - play on, rebound, goal to swans. just about sums up the whole game.

maybe if schulz, pettifer, krak etc pulled their fingers out and did some really gut running to give options then our midfield would only **** it up sometimes instead of most times

richo cant do it all

Are you kidding they're all receivers.

Just wondering if you went?

Schulz's pressure was horrible. He was prepared to man up or run.

Pettifer can be OK but he is a touch soft on the odd occasion.

Has nothing to do with an inexperienced football team have been dumb for at least ten years. We don't go nearly hard enough not that I'm advocating a solution to the current problem.

I agree with the inexperience / fitness stuff.

Cam Howat made two clangers late in the game. I can imagine that he was so stressed / pumped-up / adrenalised / pressured in the last quarter that he was like a 5-year old full-up of cocaine laced with red cordial. He was seeing passes that weren't there, snatching at things only he could see.

I think in the previous week against the Blues a lot of our kids got nervous and refused to leave their men. When they came at us we got ultra-defensive and all our run dried-up.

Hopefully as we get more experience into the 11 blokes without 50 games to their credit the game slows down a bit for them. They begin to make better decisions under pressure.

Clangers!!!!! How about Pattison's kick out of defence (well, it technically never got out of defence), sideways in the direction of three Swans in the second quarter.
What's up with that?
Wasn't even a Tiger in the geberal direction!!!

What's the go with Raines? Two pretty ordinary games. Looks like he's not running out of defene like he did last year. Is Terry trying to make him more accountable for his direct opponent? I'd hate to see him go into his shell. Would gladly sacrifice two goals a game for him to generate some run out of the backline for us.

Pattison's kick, and one of Howat's clangers came about because of exactly the same reason...

They both got up and went back to take their kicks with no intention of playing on. In both cases, the umpire did call play on, much to their surprise. They both had to rush a kick else be tackled and turn the ball over.
I'd like to see a replay of those again, because watching it live, they did not appear to play on.

Also, when Patrick Bowden was 'run down' by Spida, I am certain that the umpire was effectively at 8 o'clock to Bowdens positition, and therefore out of his line of sight. I doubt he heard the call, and certainly didn't see the signal. A minor thing, but the umpire should always ensure he is in the players line of sight.

it seems he is being watched more closely this year. that's just the impression i get because most times he goes near the ball there are two or three blokes in his hammer. i wonder how MM will deal with him on fri...should be interesting.

If he's good enough (and he is) he will find a way to get on top.

That was terrible. It actually looked like it came off the boot ok as well.

Didn't go to the game - interstate.
Had to watch Fox Footy. Very frustarting how they insist on staying on the replays when the live action is continuing. Poor coverage.

Schultz seems to lack intensity. He needs to be given an ultimatum by Wallace. Perform for 4 quarters or go back to Coburg. He is a 1st round pick and a hell of a lot of resources have been put into him.
Time to step up Jay.
