Friends, the first match I saw in my life was Melbourne v Carlton at VFL Park in May of 1972 where needless to say we got pumped. I hav hated them ever siince. I revei in their misery.

God, even by the standard of dead rubbers that was a miserable, soulless experience. Pickett is about the only reason to watch this team atm.

Good:

• Pickett, as above.
• I've liked Fritsch's last two weeks, playing higher up the ground.
• Roo had some moments.
• Langford is already in our top 5 players.

Bad:

• I know it's not news to everyone here, but a midfield of Oliver, Viney and Petracca doesn't work. Three contested beasts who consistently get beaten at the contest.
• Lack of composure from Tholstrup and Jefferson really stood out, unfortunately for them. Tholstrup in particular needs some time in the seconds, I don't think this run of senior games is doing him much good.
• Losing to Carlton by a goal? More scoring shots than the opposition? Dysfunctional forward line and terrible entries? Can we start losing in more surprising, interesting ways, please?

Ugly:

- I don't care if it makes me a nuffy, that umpiring was atrocious. I don't want to say that we would have won but for the umpiring, but Carlton definitely would not have won but for the umpiring.

4 years of complete regression since 2021. 13 Premiership players took the field tonight. There’s probably a world where we’re a well run club and still don’t win another flag after 21. However, it’s hard to imagine anyone being worse than Goodwin.

Honestly don5 even know what to say anymore. Our senior players don’t do shit and our younger players just pepper the match with infuriating **** ups that you can see will lose the game.

But in the end, they’re not being coached in a way to win footy matches. They’re being coached by a madman with a fantasy game plan that wastes players talent and loses match after match …
