So did Grimes play? He is in my super coach side and I am pretty sure he didn't play the last practice game as well. I'm a bit worried he wont play round one.

No he didn't play.

I went down to Casey and left at 3/4 time so my review doesn't include the last quarter.

I came away very happy not only were we "competitive" there were times we clearly out played the dogs and we mainted possesion alot more than the dogs did.

Still no clear game plan and we reacted to how the dogs played (at times they flooded and we struggled to combat it)

I thought the backline did a great job (Martin, Warnock, Frawley, Garland) all play similar roles but the 4 of them with Whelan and possibly Grimes during the year will be very very solid.

Mclean was excellent but the conditions suited him, Jones showed plenty more than he did last year, Newton worked really hard and looks to have improved.

I also though Buckley, Davey, McDonald, Bartram, Banell, Jetta were solid.

Overall good signs, can't comment on what happened in the last quarter but at full strength we'll have a red hot dip against the kangaroos.

Go Dees

Thanks to everyone that has posted information about the game.

Did Cheney get much TOG ? How did he go ? Any chance of a round 1 debut will he be on the waiting list ?

Cheney was rather impressive. He was on the ground for a fair bit too.

Rivers was on and off but did a couple of good things. He couldn't really command the defence though.

How ironic would it be if Rivers finds he has missed the boat and has to wait it out at Casey as our young backline holds its own?

I doubt it, but would be rather funny.

I'll use the old cliche "Rivers will be better for the run"

Warnock, Garland, Martin, Frawrley, Rivers back 6 is looking pretty full with talls when we're at full strength.

Cheney would have to be in the mix for round 1, was solid again today but didn't do anything to stand out, Whelan might steal his spot if fit.

any chance that if all these 5 are fit we might try 1 of garland or martin up foward? maybe garland could do the david neitz thing, he was recruited as a foward... or would we just be wasting our best back?

Bell's aggression was really good at times. I know his tackling has been a strong point of his game, but he seems to have a bit more mongrel in him now. That tackle he put on Higgins on the outer wing was brutal. Good to see :thumbsu:
