Time for some positives...

I thought our defence today was magnificent considering the amount of times the ball was down there.

The trio of Fletch, Mal and Ryder compliment each other brilliantly.

We just lacked a bit of dash. The effort was there but the tired legs wouldn't let it happen.

Do you think Lee can get any games this year?

Our defense outside of Fletcher was woeful today. If we lost by 70 pts would you still say our defenders done the job? The only thing that saved our defenders was Collingwoods innacuracy plain and simple. When a cloke dominates a game you know you've ****ed up!

Kelvin I think you're close to the mark. From half way through the first quarter our defence was under siege - Our biggest tactical problem was getting the ball through the centre beyond half forward.

Your mob got cut up big time in defence because the Pies midfield and pack clearances were about 2 to 1. Your mob are like a 'Whip' chocolate bar, soft in the middle.

Bit like your brain :D

Woeful?

Gee, I thought it was magnificent with Fletch the standout.

Mal did a pretty good job, Ryder was good when he was there and the others played there part.

Cloke was good after half time when the team was on it's last legs and he ran us ragged. He was easily held by Ryder in the first quarter and a half.

Cloke was Collingwoods best forward in the first half, hed racked up double digit disposals took 6 marks and kicked a goal! Everyone knows how well bradley went, his gimme goal to lockyer showed he's more than just useless, he has the heart the size of a pea. How could you let a guy half your size slam you on your ass and laugh at you without reacting?

i thought mal was excellent. along with stants and davey he kept us in the game for a while.

i don't know why paddy was moved out of defence????

kepler should have been given a run in the ruck. he couldn't have done nay worse than he did in defence

Kepler was given a run in the ruck, he got lost away from play and Watson ended up taking 2 hitouts for him hence the reason Ryder was called up. I thought from the get go Bolton should of been the backup ruckman, he was by far the better of the 2 last year when we had no Hille/Laycock/Ryder.

The defence was pretty good until Bradley was forced to go back there.
ant555 u make me sick. u like sheedy, watson, bolts, bradley and mark johnson should get off the bombers list. sorry ant555 that post wasnt ment for you

You should get a brain and learn how to construct some sort of sentance that makes sense
Find me where i have said i like guys like Bolts ? The last time i mentioned MJ i think i said he was struggling.
I have said Watson needs some time in the seconds.
As for Sheedy my comments have always been see what happen this season. The season contains 22 games not 1. I guess the fact that guys like Davey,Ryder,Monfries and Stanton have come along under Sheedy doeant count.
Maybe you should engage your brain before typing in the future arseclown.

"when the team was on its last legs"????? Your blokes had the same four day rest as Collingwood.!!

Yeah. And they were fitter than us. When we were on our last legs, they still had energy.

That said, our defense wasn't the problem. Despite thaimagpie's inability to come to terms with his homosexuality, he's hit the nail on the head - we got thrashed in the midfield. Too many soft efforts, and not enough mental fortitude.

Fletcher, Michael and Ryder all played well today. Cloke got a lot of confidence once Bradley went on to him and he took 5 marks in 7 minutes and had about 4 shots at goal, after that he was away.

Bad kicking is bad football so i wouldn't carry on about that too much.

Agreed - it was the same with Carlton in the second half and the same again today. Our midfield are either still developing or are simply not up to what it takes to be a strong AFL midfield player. Their defensive pressure becomes non existent when fatigue sets in and their disposal leaves alot to be deisred at pace and under pressure. I hate to say it, but Stanton is almost becoming our best midfielder in terms of pace, run and kicking - he has worked on his kicking and is getting much better. If the midfield are not applying defensive pressure to the opposition ball carrier moving through the midfield delivering nto the forward line ten our defenders have little hope. If the middfielders are also not providing ball carrying options/leads OUT of the backline, then the problem is accentuated as it was yesterday.....

I wish Andrew lee played yesterday instead of baradley. Ryders tap work was bloosy awesome, we didn't win a centre clearance till he rucked and he palmed the ball down to Hird 4-5 times in a row.

Also the umpires are f^*ked in the head and have no idea. The mal Michael free kick for standing there was a joke, not to mention the ball before that was touched by fletcher. Among many others we did not recieve didn't know where to write this but here seemed as good a place as any. No excuse they were better then us but those D!ckheads in yellow didn't help.

The umpring was sheit (20 to 10) but as much as I cant stand Bradley, Andrew Lee is in the same boat. They both parade around off the field at club functions as if they are 100 plus game successfull players. They both need to pul their collective heads in and not get ahead of themselves in terms of their standing as AFL footballers....

thats where we really missed lovett murray and welsh. with those 2 plus mcveigh and mcphee that gives us our real dash from half back which as you said was really lacking yesterday.

Exactly, once Kepler went back and paddy was forced into the ruck (instead of playing back) it all stuffed up. The only reason Travis cloke had one of the games of his life is because kepler was playing on him, Up until this game, he wasn't in playing all that good. Big Mal was pretty good, one of the best games he's played for the bombers.

I dont think the Ryder move to the ruck was all bad. It was not Ryder moving out it was Kepler moving in that was the problem, when we have Welsh/ NLM back we can throw Ryder into the ruck with less risk. Laycock should probably play for Bendigo until he is match fit.

Anyway, next week against the hawks Mal has no clear oponent what should we do with him?

Totally agree, I thought he was brilliant in the ruck, it was all because we didn't have Hille in the team, if he had of played, Ryder couldv'e played back where he has been brilliant this season, and their backline wouldn't of been as effective i think, and bradley would never of played! I think Laycock should stay in, just to support Hille, because id rather Ryder play in the backline for now.
