Who does everyone think is a good downgrade option in the backline (to free up cash and sit on bench for the remainder of the year).

We are talking about someone yet to rise in price that will play out the rest of the year and provide a backup option for injuries etc.

Silvester, Post, and Broadbent, are a few i have been tossing up between.

Clancee Pearce, Shaun Mckernan are a couple of others?

Who is the most likely to get a game for the rest of the season?

Any others that should be worth considering?

I'd say Silvester. Rawlings will keep playing the kids and he's scored reasonably well so far.

Yeah, it's a tricky one. I would have to say none of them have very good job security. With Silvester it's only a matter of time before Rance is back, potentially Bowden as well.

If you have Broughton as cover then it will not hurt you to get any of them, but if you will rely on these players for cover it could be risky.

Silvester would be my choice given that he has shown that he is capable of scoring well with a 90+ point game on debut.

Michael Hurley (154k) is another one, he has played only one game then got injured. if he is back this week or next, I reckon he will play out the season.

Iv been reading the richmond board and they dont seem to be too happy with Silvester - i picked him cos i was 3 short.
Here's hoping Rawlings is no Laidley

Silvester has had a bag kicked on him 2 weeks in a row. I think Rance will come in and take his spot this week.

I think we will give Post more of an opportunity. Broadbent I dont know alot about, but Port supporters talk him up. Hurley has been named best for Bendigo for a number of weeks in a row and will surely get a game soon, but don't know if he will hold his spot and is is worth a few more $'s.

This week Essendon is playing Sydney and without Big Bad Barry, Hurley is too tall to bring into the side this week, I read this somewhere, could have been Essendon forum on here.

There are also question marks over his burst pace, will probably mature into a full back i.e. not much scoring potential.

Yes Hurley is another option, however he costs 154k and the reason for the question is because im looking to downgrade hill to free up some cash to finish off my midfield.

Hill is my emergency currently and my main priority is that the guy i pick up plays most of the rest of the season as i have suckling on the bench also who hasnt got a game since round 1.

Shaun McKernan from Adelaide is another option, he is listed as a defender and a forward. He is the brother of Corey:

Unfortunately as the article states, there is a good chance he won't hold is spot and like Silvester, there are other players pushing back into selection.

If you can't decide this week in Silvester, at least you will get another chance the week after on McKernan.

Looking to downgrade Grima to a rookie to free up some cash.

For a change there are actually some backline rookie options ...

Silvester
Post
Broadbent
Pearce
Hurley (who won't free up as much cash)

Im leaning towards Pearce as Freo seem to be giving rookies a much better run than other sides, so much better chance of holding his spot.

Who would you choose and why?

Silvester, Post and Rance will probably fight for 1 or 2 spots in the team so I think they are a bit risky. Hurley should play every game. Freo were happy enough with Pearce before he got injured and to bring him back again suggests he may stay. Broadbent who knows, he's yet to play a game so I would wait.

Hurley or Pearce for mine.
