Bumped Deledio The forward

Im still not convinced.He has the talent for it but our forward line is easily our strongest part of the ground and he gets shoved aside a bit for Richo, Brown, Pettifer and one of the Polak, Schulz, Patto and Symonds.

Our Midfield is really starting to look decent at clearences with foley, tuck, tambling, jackson and Johnson and i would just love to see deledio streaming off them. No one in the AFL can catch him and his kicking is deadly. Get him back on the wing or HBF with spells in square and up forward.

He didnt have that much of an impact in the game, went missing for most of it. He really should be in the thick of the action and just rest in the forward line.

considering hes still new to playing as a forward you'd take a 2 goal game for sure.

i see he went into the middle in a few parts of the game, maybe he'll have 5 minute bursts in the middle as an impact player. he certainly has the pace and talent.

didnt set the world on fire but was promising. thought tambling performed well tonight as well.

I watched the game tonight and thought he was relatively inactive for most of it. At times I thought his speed and flair was needed in the guts, so maybe rotating him through the mid for 6-8 mins then into the fwd line for a resting period. Maybe even throw Nath Brown in the mid if Deledio is up fwd

If he's in the forward line, Browny needs to be in the middle, and vise verser.

Brown and Deledio need to rotate from the middle to forward, whenever they feel the need.

Even if our midfield is ticking well play Deledio at half back and Browny as a forward, our skills despite our win need to improve so to have Deledio at half back and Morton into the team would be great.

Dont you guys get tired of making excuses for Deledio?

Kicked 2 goals one of which was a soft freekick.

Compare his game to Browny who kicked 2 crucial freak goals, and changed the game off his own boot.

Deledio may have the talent, but he is a long way from being Nathan Brown.

He is closer to Brad Ottens. Talented player that is always talked about as being a star, but hasnt yet played like one.

Deledio could learn a lot from Jake King. Talent with out the effort and application Kingy puts in makes little kids love you, but not the supporters that have grown up watching Geoff Raines and Maurice Rioli.

OMG bring in Morton ASAP (good player) and give him Deledio's forward role (could do it just as well) and get Lids into the action! He's played midfield his whole life and that's what we recruited him for! Let him learn to be an AFL midfielder, if we wanted a KP forward Terry you Nimwit we could of gone Roughead or Franklin. He'll be much more damaging there in the long run!

Delidio has been hidden away where he wont be able to get many possessions. Sure he will kick a few goals here and there but he wont get to realise his potential. At FF he looks very average and is wasted, but its not really his fault. He could easily play further up field but they recuited jordy so there is nowhere else for him to go, he appears to be on the way out.

Lol agree. I agree with most in the Brown/Lids rotation thru the middle. I liked him in the saints nab cup playing a kinda link up role up on the half forward line and delivering into the 50 during the 3rd Q iirc. He looked far more dangerous in that position imho.

LOL at you richcogs, bit emotional mate. I do agree though, Morton to the forward line, and Lids into the middle. Leave Sarge down back, was terrific, and displayed the talent most of us knew he had. His second efforts, and decision making were very good.

I know the idea is that he will be able to play that hird type role. Im trying to say that our forward line is already brimming with talent that he gets shunted of to the side. Especially when you take into account Richo, twice he intercepted balls meant for leads from schulz, he is an extremely hard player to play with when you play a tradtional lead up FF.

Lids has played forward all thru is junior career, his first season and the end of last year. He is hardly inexperienced up there. It is probably his most natural position. But i dont believe that playing him up there is helping him when our forward line already contains4 or 5 of our most talented players.

I dont think he looks average as a full forward. Its just that he is the 5th choice option when going forward. You make some strange comments sometimes, there is no way he s on the way out.

FWIW I think it was the right call at the time. We couldnt afford to have him forward then but now we can and I think its the single biggest factor thats turned our forward line from being our big worry to being pretty good.
