Not sure is this the right thread but what about Richie bling I think he would be a decent pick up now 27 reaching footy maturity and wouldn't demand too much I'm guessing being lol 3rd club. If he doesn't do well in the 1s he should do well in our vfl side..?

No thanks. I still prefer the outside players to have some grunt to them.

And IMO its not just about the VFL side going well, its about the VFL team providing an extension to both recruiting and development departments.
VFL side should compose of
- mature blokes that can't play AFL grade (age or ability) but have a strong work ethic and leadership role
- maybe 1 or 2 AFL grade players that have off-field issues, that can be dealt with
- the rest should be players that have never played afl, and may just prove that they have what it takes to play AFL (whether they are kids, or mature)

Don't see how Richie fits into 1 of the 3 categories

wouldn't be against some delisted AFL players trying to get re-drafted (even to the Richmond AFL side the year afer) playing in the VFL side as well.

Not saying we should pick him up, because IMO we shouldn't. But I would've thought Tambling fitted quite nicely into your first category. Posters with a better memory than me will know but wasn't he a part of getting the Indigenous centre set up?

I still maintain that at the time of the draft he was considered by all to be a top 5 draftee. The fact that he didn't realise his potential or we couldn't get it out of him is not the point. If clubs could quantify why draftees don't make this transition, then they would be top of the tree forever! The draft is a speculative auction and you cant select players in hindsight. You make the best decision on the available evidence in front of you.
