Bannistar, Saddington, Ackland, nothing against these blokes, but Don't understand why they haven't been delisted. They are not the future.

Because there is no point delisting these guys just for the sake of a few very late picks in a weak draft.

Also, all have shown that they can be useful depth players at times, Bannister in particular.

They haven't been delisted as they are adjudged to be able to give us more than the players that we would be replacing them with, being very late draft picks.

We can't just delist them all at the same time. Ackland is needed, even though it pains me to say it. He will get games, hopefully only as our 3rd choice ruckmen. Bannister, although I dislike him, can occassionally play an OK game here and there, and is reasonable at what he does. Saddington will provide us with necessary experience.

None have a long term future with the club. But we can't get rid of them all at once.

I'd rather keep Lance then those 3, staggering

Each year we have to delist a minimum of three players to makae room for three picks (minimum) in the ND.

If we got rid of ALL our weak players at once, as has been pointed out, who would replace them?

Some late speculative picks that you are stuck with for two years.
So who do you delist next year for the next 3?

Banno showed he could play last year, and if he keeps his form up will be a useful tagger (we have no-one else, maybe Anderson).

Saddo, agreed not part of our long term plans, but this will be his second injury free pre-season in a row, and I expect to see him a it more mobile next year. Will help protect the younger guys like Austin from having to do too much too soon (See Luke Livingston)

Ackland has got 1 year left of a 2 + 1 incentive based contract. If we cut him now we would probably be forced to pay him out for the third year as well.
He was a mistake that we will have to wear for another 12 months.
May end up in the bullants reserves with Teague the "puppet" coach in place to play the guys we want played.
Rucks in the ants will be whichever of Hampson and Aisake aren't in the ones and Kreuzer.........maybe Ackland up forward.

Jackson looks like he could well become our #1 tagger.

I'd even go as far as to say that Bannister's future on our list depends a lot on Jackson's development into this role.

Interestingly, they are the two best endurance athletes on our list...

Fair point, forgot about Jacko's shadowing of Harvey.

Bannister has the size to go with boigger guys like Cornes, Goodes, B Johnson as well. This versatility is important, and I reckon Jacko will develop more into an attacking mid, but again, good point.:thumbsu:

I'm glad you're not the coach then! .... Lance couldn't kick more then 40metres in the end. Saddington can kick goals outside of 50 and has a strong grab. He's had one full year back from a serious injury.

He'll be good next year :thumbsu:

They might not be long term future players, bt they are short term 2-3 year players...

Bannistar can be a very good player....great height and size for a defensive role, and has a very good tank....if he was in the team on a regular basis he would show his worth...and lets not forget he is only 24...he won the best clubman award, so there is something about him...he will show more in 2008 IMO

Saddington was a very good defender for the Swans before needing a knee reco in 2004...and then the follwoing year had complications....so really he's had 2 years back in the game (which experts say you need) and IMO showed he can played strong down back especially after Ratts took over...and he was very good at moving forward and kick goals and being a target...

Ackland is contracted so we can't delist him, but he showed in the alst few games what he can do, he was challenged about his attack on the ball and his ruck work...Ratts won;t take it easy on him and he will have to prove himself....he will be ok but will be a backup for our young ruckman.

The players that got delisted had to go, they either weren't cutting it or had no short term future. Ratts is tough and he knew what he was doing!!

Very likely two, or all three, of these blokes won't survive the cut after next season.

If you're running your list right the quality of your delisted players should improve every year.

Finally we will be moving on good players rather than average players.
