Alright, Nath and Pris are gone. Who will get delisted?

I know Tenace is contracted, but we surely can't keep him any longer.

I thought I read somewhere that Byrnes has re-signed. Can someone enlighten me? He will just further hinder Davenport, Djerrkura and Hogan's chances of getting game time next year.

Djohns will probably go. 1 game this year and Josh Hunt has his spot. Just an idea: if he doesn't get picked up in the draft or PSD, could he be the new James Byrne - captain of the twos?

Injuries haven't helped Bedford either. He looked alright at stages, but he'll get moved on.

Moles and Mumford are the tough ones. 50-50 whether Moles gets promoted, he might now that Prismall's gone. I think Mumford is gone, as the club has put too much time into West to drop him, while Dawson needs more game time. I still believe Mumford is a better ruckman that West. I never liked the idea of 3 listed ruckmen in the twos.

Thoughts?
 
Nathan, Scarlett (Vets list), Prismall and Davenport will give us 4 picks in the draft.

Depending on what else we want/need there could be another delisting in there.

Yep, think he is done and dusted. I would imagine we will clear a few off there.

IMHO he is a great VFL player, but not good enough at AFL level.

Ahead of Tenace IMHO, but i think he is contracted so he cant go

Mumford?! Played senior footy this year and was pretty good for a rookie!

Couldn't have expected more than what we got out of him, surely he will stay.

I realise that, But I think we will need to clear a couple spots on the list. With Scarlo on the vets, that is already one rookie to delist. Then I think we will want 2 picks in the RD.

Kangas is a long term KP prospect and won't go.
Bedford gone

This means:
Moles
Laidler
Mumford

will be battling it out for the one spot. Given we have 4 senior listen ruckman in Blake, Ottens, West and Simpson I think Mummy is expendible. Moles and Laidler playing for the one spot. I think Laidler will win it because he is younger.

The following frees up 4 spots for picks at the draft. With picks 15, 31, 39, 47 to be used and one of for "ranga", i can't imagine to many more changes than that. however, they may cut the list further because of the so called depth of this draft and the last chance to take quality kids before the GC17 draft concessions come in.
 
I really don't think Mumford will go, can't they leave him on the rookie list anyway? He's got a fair bit of potential.

Ruckmen are a good investment too, you always seem to get something for them in a trade. As we've done in previous years.

Personally, I think Mumford has more chance of playing AFL footy than D. Simpson. I sincerely doubt that big Dawson will make it in the modern game.
 
I don't like the idea of cutting young players when there are older players like D. Johnson (and Tenace) who take up spots on the list and have very little chance of playing AFL football.

I think that it is unfortunate that we are stuck with Tenace who is just a VFL player, but due to his contract we may have to cut a young player who has potential.
 
Similar to all you I am trying to work out how we can have 3 picks plus Ranga in the draft as pick 39 really should be a live pick for the type of player we are likely to get.

So to anyone who can answer the question which is in two parts but relates to the same thing. Are we or were we this season able to still nominate a rookie who is then able to be picked for the senior side? If this is the case then that must mean due to salary cap constraints we have a senior spot on our list that isnt being used? With Prismall going we could probably afford two draftees for his absent pay packet if this was indeed the case but I am not sure the status of our current rookie list. Does anyone know the full story on this?
 
It's actually really difficult to make a call on who will go, regardless whoever the one or two are we'd already know they will never make it at the club (whoever they may be) so i'll just be happy with that and a strong draft. Fingers crossed a gun forward slips to 15, a pacey mid with the next pick, a bottom age long term KPP project & then Ranga should fill out our list nicely.
 
Just remember that because we are at 100% of the cap, we won't be delisting contracted players because we wouldn't have room to pay their replacements. So that means Tenace, DJ and Davenport are safe.

Also, we have cleared the minimum of three spots - Scarlett (to the vets), Nathan and Prismall. So if we take 15, 33 and Ranga (with 39), that will do the minimum we have to do.

Anything further is unlikely and will come from uncontracted players only.

From what I have read on the rule, I think it is the clubs choice and not ranga's.

I can't think of any other players (aside from Lonergan and Byrnes who WILL re-sign) that are uncontracted.

As for Ranga, yes, we can take him as a rookie if he agrees, but why would he? He is an All-Australian under-18 player. He would get picked in the first 30-40 players in the draft easily. If we don't take him with our last pick, he'll nominate for the National Draft and someone else will.

Just found this:

The NSW AFL Scholarship scheme allows clubs to sign teenagers aged 15-17 within certain development regions in NSW, excluding Canberra and the Riverina. The player receives financial assistance and the club has first option to draft them, either to the full or rookie list.

By the sound of this we get a choice. Not Ranga.

No doubt he's highly rated and will get a shot at senior selection quickly enough if he's as good as the talent scouts say. I was looking at it from the club's point of view that it will allow for more greater flexibility on draft day if Ranga can be convinced to go onto the rookie list for a year. Perhaps they could even make him the nominated rookie, thus allowing him to play seniors while being a rookie.
