The last season of this officially died when they had that fat chick in the van joke. Simply appalling on every level.

First was okay, though.

This series was highly recommended to me but watching the pilot was a huge disappointment. I loved The Office and most of Jervais stand up but this main character just seems to be pathetic. I am not convinced by the insertion of Karl Pilkington with dodgy hair.

Is it worth persevering with the rest of the series or no?

If you hated the first episode, you will hate the series for sure
I thought it was shallow cliched dreck, but some people will tell you the show is amazing on soo many levels

I just read a review on IMDB that said the pilot wasn't too good and the series improves. I'll give it a couple of the main episodes I think.

Just finished series 2. Glad I stuck with it. There's some really excellent moments and the characters really grow on you.

Watched through the lot over the last week or so after getting the Netflix trial. Actually didn't mind it tbh. Came in never really hearing anything about it so wasn't expecting anything or certainly looking for some sort of 'deep multi-layered psychedelic experience' which seems to be the consistent knock of it having a lack of throughout this thread. Nobody actually thought it was a real documentary or anything right?

It is what it is, just a bit of simple standard humour with some kinda 'serious' moments throughout. Probably did help smashing it all out quickly and not watching it week to week or seasons apart or whatever. That probably would have been a bit more of a grind.

Karl was awesome obviously

I didnt read pages 3 and 4 of this thread so apologise if it was raised after. I think this show is brilliant (im on S1. E07). I know Ricky is a big animal activist but this series for me is about how we treat our elderly. Its funny(sometimes hilarious) in a quirky British way but the underlining theme is older generations dont deserve to be forgotten. I love the human element of this show and think Gervais' character is pretty damn good. There's a social message underlining this series.

And anything with Karl can never be bad.
