Anyone else not really react anymore to violence and bad news stories in the media?

Its shit but when I heard about New York today I was just sort of like "oh well thats shit but what can ya do"

I think now, unless someone I know is involved or its local, I probably wont be shocked.

Dunno....

I guess the whole thing with terrorism is they want you to react.
Being like "ah well" and go on with your normal daily life is what they dont want i guess

That's why terrorists need to keep coming up with new and more terrifying ways of killing people, ploughing into people in a truck or a van is old hat now.

Exactly what I was thinking.

Schools and shopping centres. Scares the **** outta me- an no security whatsoever.

Cinemas another one especially after that cinema shooting in the US, you're pretty vulnerable to an attack sitting in the dark where you can't see much.

There isn't really any security at them either, an usher wearing a vest and a bow tie isn't going to save you.

At least in Australia there is much less chance of being caught up in a random shooting.

I'm not surprised. Middle East gets bombed the hell out of, millions die, locals get angry, extremists say the civilians of the countries bombing Middle East voted for this, retribution is sought. Violence begets violence. Once ISIS is cleared from Syria and Iraq, the west needs to get the **** outta the Middle East for good.

How long after all international forces pull out of middle East regions will it be before the same people decrying the West's actions for decades start calling for action against the inevitable human rights abuses and atrocities?

Or will we finally acknowledge that human rights aren't universal, cultures aren't all equal and it's perhaps best left alone?

I don't know, it depends on the individual. You can be against western military intervention but at the same time condemn human rights abuses in the middle east.

Yeah, nothing wrong with believing in a hierarchy of cultures, and that given most of the countries in the human development index at the top are western, arguing that western culture is superior. I mean, it's possible that if the middle east had the military might that the US does that we'd be all dead already. Having said that, several middle eastern countries were becoming more secular and pro-western from the 50s through till the 70s and the west backed Islamic extremists against the imperfect nevertheless stable regimes before them. Their progress got shat on and I hate the US military industrial complex for it because they are the main instigators of this. I suspect the Soviet Union messed things up in that region, too, corrupt ****s that they were, and still are in modern Russia.

i suggest you stop

....

M8, any ISIS fighter wouldn't make it past the price of the Popcorn & Coke Combo for a start!
There's the real terrorism at the Cinema
